[QUOTE=veggiebelly]Punkmommy,
I have not been to Guo's Garden, but thanks for telling me about it! Is it in a certain shopping center so I can find it more easily?
I will be moving somewhere around the Malvern area in the next couple of months and need all the info I can get! I'm still learning about the area.
I just ate at Empress again last night and the Sesame "Chicken" was AWESOME.
I was also disappointed at SuTao the last time I was there. I thought the waiter (maybe the same one you were talking about?) was really rude. The food didn't quite do it for me, either.

I'm a little late responding, sorry! Guo's Garden is on 113 South between Rt. 100 and Rt 30 It's kinda between the Regal Theatre and the Hampton Inn. It's a tiny little strip of businesses. Their address is Plaza 113, 569 West Uwchlan, Exton-Lionville ( as though that helps a lot! ) Their phone # is 610-524-7178. If you need any other names of hfs or anything, let me know- I think I know them all in this area :D

No problem! I would absolutely love it if you'd give me info on the health food stores in the area ... I was at Trader Joe's last weekend in Wayne but let me know about the others!
If there are any other veg restaurants in the area I'd love to know about them, as well.
Thanks for the information! I can't wait to move.

Ok, here's my list!

Kimberton Whole Foods- there are 2 locations, 1 in Kimberton,Pa ( north on 113) and 1 in Downingtown, PA. I go the one in Downingtown at least 1x a week- their website is kimbertonwholefoods.com if you need directions and stuff. They have organic veggies and fruits too. The Kimberton location has a cafe with some vegetarian and vegan items.

Great Pumpkin- West Chester on Market street ( going out of town). No produce or veggies, but they do have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan items.

Lionville Natural Pharmacy- On Pottstown Pike in Lionville. They have an actual natural pharmacy ( I haven't used it) and lots of supplements. They also carrry some vegetarian pantry staples and dry goods. There's a little cafe attached, but there's nothing vegan there :(

Wegman's - Downingtown on Rt. 30- huge grocery store, they have a decent size natural foods section with just about every flavor of Soy Delicious imaginable

Fresh Fields- Paoli on Rt. 30 Organic veggies and fruits, just like a regular grocery store but with natural food items and stuff

Devi Restraunt in the Whiteland Town Center shopping center located in Exton at Rt. 100 and Rt.30. Haven't been there, but it's an Indian Vegetarian Restraunt ( heard it's expensive).

Hunan Chinese Restraunt- West Chester . I won't go there anymore ( haven't since I was pregnant a long time ago! ) They do have a vegetarian menu, but I think the veg items are cooked with meat products ( or at least use to be -bleah)

Mediterranian Restraunt on Gay St. in West Chester. Not a veg place, but do have many vegetarian items- they have some awesome falafel  It's BYOB

If I can think of more, I'll let you know! Happy eating!

Woohoo, thanks for the list! I've heard of the Great Pumpkin and I'm very excited about the natural pharmacy in Lionville. I also love Wegman's - we have one near where I live now.

I've also eaten at Gateway to India on Lancaster Ave (I think?), which I thought was really good.

I went to Horizons - it's a new vegan, organic, gourmet restuarant in Philly on 7th St between South and Bainbridge. It's owned by the people who used to own Horizons Cafe in Willow Grove (which I never went to but always wanted to). They closed down the cafe to open this upscale place in Philly. It was really cool: I posted about my meal there here:

Just got back from Philly. KIngdom of Vegetarians was AWESOME as usual.
Stopped into Govindas to grab some desserts (actually vegan treats' desserts) and there place was packed! they bought the attatched building and added on. The kitchen partcan be seen from the outside. You can stand on South St. & Broad and watch the chef.
They deserve to be busy! The owners work hard and REALLY CARE about their food and more importantly their customers. Unlike those LOSERS at Giannas! THEY SUCK!

Ah! I wanted to go to Govinda's last time I was in Philly but couldn't remember the name of the place or where it was on South Street. I must remember for the next time.

The kids and I had a cinnamon roll to eat there and I brought home a cherry cheesecake that I am trying to not eat til after dinner! LOL
I only live like 10 minutes away, so I dont know why I havent been there sooner. It is great to have SOME place nearby.

Just thought I would share my experience since I saw it was brought up on the board recently. :o

Ha ha. I actually just quit my job (and free membership) at Gold's Gym in Bethlehem. But I believe your gym is pretty close to my house. I live on Weaversville RD. I really do need to get back to the gym to lift weights- it really helps me mentally

If you are looking to get treated like S*#T - go there!
If you are looking for a place that MAY be open..go there!
If you are looking for a place that simply lies to their customers about the food being vegan - GO THERE!
If you are looking for a place where the owners answer is "Well they are eating it!" when ask why their soft serve is NOT vegan like they say it is - GO THERE!

Now, if you would like a few awesome places to go in China Town..here is two that come highly recommended:

Kingdom of Vegetarians ABSOULTELY AWESOME!
Kingdom of Vegetarians Restaurant
129 N 11th St
Philadelphia, PA 19107-2310
(215) 413-2290
Directions: Orange line spur to Chinatown; Blue line to 11th St

Kingdom of Vegetarian is absolutely fabulous!

Singapore

Kingdom of Vegetarians is all vegan. I am sure the man that answered the phone did not understand the question. They have TONS of food on the menu with names of meat items. Ex: Duck, Chicken, Pork, Beef etc, but it is all vegan.
This goes the same for Singapore. All the items are a 'meat' name, which I really hate, but they do this for the non-vegans/vegetarians that go there.

If y'all have never tried HORIZON'S CAFE when it was in Willow Grove, or you want to visit an AMAZING, gourmet, vegan place, go to Horizon's restaurant on 7th street, just off of south street. The food is SOOOO fantastically prepared, layered flavors and great variety of ingredients. They now have organic beer and wines, a lounge area and an upstairs dining area. Their seitan dishes are to DIE for!!! I think they have a super chance of becoming Philly's BEST vegan restaurant, and soon! I promise you will not be disappointed. The environment is upscale, yet not stuffy. Nice ambience, candles and art. I live an hour plus away, but will be continuing to frequent that establishment because it is by far the BEST veggie place to eat!

Hope this helps anyone who is bored of the same ol chinese food. Speaking of which, Guo's garden in Exton has great chinese food but nothing special where veggie cuisine or any textured-type seitan, etc. is concerned. I was very disappointed in the environment, but if I lived closer I would make them my favorite take out.

I cannot talk enough about the food experience I just had at Horizon's. I had been to their wg location numerous times and always left thrilled. This time, it was even better!!! I do have to give a shout out for my 2nd fave place, Su Tao Cafe in Malvern. They have some off days, but I really love their buffet. It is dependable, excellent chinese/fusion/veggie cuisine. I hope they never close!!!

Anyone else been to the new Horizons yet?
