I am the only veg I know and I am always talking about animal rights (usually fur, KFC, and animal abuse). And a majority of ppl agree with me. But then they get this cat caught in the cream look on their face and say well I know I eat meat but I think animals should... like they don't have a right to care about animals because they eat meat. then they get all quiet. This makes me insane. Yes I'd like everyone to go vegan (i'm not even a vegan... yet)and i won't tell someone that eating meat is ok with me b/c i don't like it but i'm not a food nazi. I don't know what the hizzle to say to these ppl and i get this ALL the time. What do u say to compassionate omnis? Are we really on the same team?
Tell them any little bit helps. Even if they still eat meat, there are things omnis can do to make our world a bit more compassionate, like:
Choosing not to wear fur.
Having their pets spayed/neutered.
Adopting from a shelter instead of going to a pet shop/breeder.
Refusing to attend rodeos and circuses with animals.
Eating less meat, i.e., Meatless Mondays.
Choosing only cage-free eggs.
Choosing not to eat some of the cruelest meat products, such as foie gras and veal.
And so on and so forth. Vegan Outreach has a brochure, "Even if You Like Meat," which has been wildly successful. It simply asks omnis to eat less meat. You can get a pack at www.veganoutreach.org.

I agree with peace's response.
It's not about how we label ourselves. It's about all the little things we do. In the rescue group I volunteer with, some are vegetarian, but even some of the omnis boycott Iams or are members of PETA. But regardless of what they eat or what products they buy, they are all compassionate, caring people doing their part.
all my family are omnis 80% of them are boycotting KFC and Iams. And my one aunt is a member of peta.

I've always been very judgmental about people who don't do "enough"...I have some friends who claim to be AR activists but bought their puppy from a roadside breeder and still feed meat to their son. This used to bother me a LOT, but as I get older and more open minded, I'm coming to understand that every little bit helps, and being judgmental over someone else's choices that I consider bad will get me nowhere. After all, I didn't wake up one morning as a perfect (human rights) activist. I'm still not a perfect activist. I got to where I am now through persistence and trial and error and I'm getting better every day, so why should I expect everyone else to get to a better place over night?
