Yay for all the veggies from C-bus! Born in Westerville, raised in Plain City (outside Dublin), and currently attending THE Ohio State University.
It really is easy to be vegetarian/vegan here. Trader Joes and Whole Foods are AWESOME! I'm on OSU campus w/o a car though, so the Sunflower Market in the South Campus Gateway is my staple.
Aladdin's is great, so many veg options. Benevolence in the arena district is also excellent. They have a great tofu/sprout sandwich (vegan) that makes me hungry every time I think about it. :D Lemongrass is in the short north, and while it's not vegetarian, they have some of the best veggie sushi I've had. The spicy almond roll is to DIE for.

Anyone going to Cedar Point this year?
I definitely must check out the new coaster. I'd like to go this weekend actually, get a free t-shirt and all that, but the weather's not looking good, and I'm not confident in Cedar Points tech staff keeping the ride running... don't feel like driving 3 hours to find out the ride is closed for maintenance or weather.

I would like to go sometime, not sure when. Maybe we can get a little group together. The new coaster does look pretty cool.
Trader Joes and Whole Foods are AWESOME!
WOW OHIO PEOPLE!
I live in Dayton...
We just got a Trader Joes down the street from me a few years ago... It TOTALLY ROCKS!

and i never go to Cedar Point.. KI is much closer...Six Flags Great America is much closer to me, but you go to Cedar Point because it's the best, no contest.
I would however like to revisit Kings Island some time, even if it's not as good.

I've never even seen a Trader Joes or Whole Foods. That's what I get for living out in the boondocks.
I don't like roller coasters, so I don't go to amusement parks too often. I've been to Cedar Point and King's Island, though, but they were both so long ago that I can't compare them.
I live in Cleveland, and have been going to Cedar Point all my life. It is far superior to Six Flags in Ohio (used to be called Geauga Lake). Last year I went on Father's Day, as I heard that is the least crowded day of the year. I finally rode Millenium Force (holy!!) and also Top Thrill Dragster, which was the most fantastic coaster ride of my life so far. INCREDIBLE, I was so scared, I literally fainted (but didn't, thank god!!). I felt like I was in a rocket ship! wheee!!! I can't wait to go and ride again..

I'm in Springboro. Moved here about a year ago..still don't really know anyone, sorry ot say it like but i don't think Americans 'get' me. I'm from England, and its quite hard to understand my accent from what i've been told!

WKSU announced yesterday a Mediterranean vegetarian restaurant will be opening in Akron in September. An English celebrity will be a part-owner, and someone local will manage it. The celebrity is going to do a grand-opening concert on (I think) September 15. I didn't get a chance to write it down, and it's not up on the WKSU website yet.
This is so flipping exciting! I've never actually been to an all-vegetarian restaurant, unless my own kitchen counts.

I can't find anything on WKSU yet, but I found a yahoo news story.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070704/ap_en_mu/people_hynde_2AKRON, Ohio - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chrissie Hynde will open a vegetarian restaurant in her hometown late this summer.
Hynde, lead singer of the Pretenders, has decided to name the restaurant VegeTerranean. She will sing accompanied by an acoustic guitarist at a free concert at the grand opening of the restaurant on Sept. 15.
She's partnering with the owner of Fideli's in Canton, which is an outstanding overpriced Italian restaurant. When my sister went to Fideli's for Valentine's Day, the chefs concocted a fantastic vegetarian gourmet dinner for her. It cost an arm and a leg, she said, but I suppose if I can drop $45 for dinner at Dui Amici in Columbus, I could do the same in Akron for special occassions.
 Akron? I can make that! Mini-VB meetup, anyone?

Will be traveling through Ohio in about a week and a half. I know we'll be traveling by Cincinnati. Any recommendations on places to eat? I've read about Myra's Dionysus, Udipi Cafe, East African Restaurant, Manna Vegetarian Deli, Melt, The Sandwich Shoppe, and Susan's Natural World online. Any yeas or nays from those of you who live in Ohio?

Three to four hours, I think. You'll be passing through the area where I live, so we could meet up and drive the last hour together, if you'd like.
I'm all for the idea of a mini-meetup in Akron when this place opens! Maybe even for the opening, if that doesn't cost extra.
Teacherguy, sadly, I've never been to any of those restaurants in Cincy. It's been years since I was there, and it's next to impossible for me to convince my omni friends to try a veg*n restaurant.

Skylark, thanks for your reply. I don't know that I'll be able to convince my wife's family to go with us to a veg*n restaurant either. Maybe my mother-in-law will watch the kids so the wife and I can go have a good meal. I may only get one chance to eat in Cincinnati, so I wanted it to be good. Maybe someone else will chime in. Thanks again for your reply. I'll post my comments on anyplace we eat when we get back.

:wall: I forgot, I don't live in that part of Ohio during the school year. And I'll only have been in school for a week, so it wouldn't really be prudent to make a trip home (although I live near enough to Dayton for phoenix91 to pick me up, lol). I might be able to go around Thanksgiving.
I can do the mini-meetup.

I'll do the Mini meet up as well. I live in dayton, so maybe Pheonix and I can carpool...then we'll hitch up with skylark on the way...this sounds like a blast!
Dang... I wish school started one week later. I come up with a great idea and now it seems like I'm the only one left out. :(

Hello. I just figured I would stop in here and introduce myself as well. :P
I'm from the VERY Northwest corner of Ohio. I'm surrounded by corn. :| And from my knowledge, besides the 2 people I converted, I am the only vegetarian in my County!

Are you one of the "children of the corn"? ;) I've got a lot of corn in my area, too, but more and more people are growing soybeans.

Well, we have alot of small cattle farmers around this area. That is generally why we grow so much corn.
