I was speaking with the dude that works at Tea House Noodles the other day. Asked him where he got his tofu because it is so yummy. He said he gets it from some asian market. They marinate in 5 different spices and then bake it. That is the brownest tofu I've ever seen. Real good flavor. Anyhow, he said he'd sell blocks of it to me if I wanted. I think it was like $8 for 2-3 lbs? I remember thinking it was resonable. Can't remember the poundage now really.
Anyhow, that was good to know. I'll be getting my tofu from there from now on.

You all do know about the St. Louis gathering, right? I know it's a bit of a hike, just wanted to be sure I gave you a heads up this time. :)

Dayton here.
We have a few Indian resturants and a Thai resturant where one can find vegetarian and vegan dishes. it's too bad the folks around here think all vegetarinas eat are salads. They don't even try.

I'm a Clevelander, on my way to becoming vegetarian (been eating fish until just days ago).
But I was wondering if any other Clevelanders had been to the Bangkok Thai Cuisine restaurant on Warrensville Rd. AWESOME!
Had one of about 6 varieties of curry last night. ANY of the dishes (the curry page is just one of 5-6 pages in the menu) can come with any meat or seafood (for your omni friends), or tofu that's about the best I've ever had.
The friend of mine who introduced me is Asian and says it's super-authentic. Plus it's cheap! Prices vary depending on meat or tofu, but most of the tofu items are around $6 for a pretty-perfect dinner portion!
Hey Smiling Sara! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to try that restaurant some time.

At our last meetup we went to this Chinese restaurant-turned-mexican. We all easily ate vegan there. We have also gone to the pizza hut and got cheeseless pizza and to TGIF which surprisingly had some good salads (I know, I know.) and veggieburgers.

Hey guys
I am from cleveland, have been vegetarian all my life. If you are looking for some good vegetarian/vegan food products, try at the "Wild Oats' store in Beachwood, OH. They have some good products particularly from "Fantastic Foods" company.

I'm in Columbus! Bexley, actually.
Our church (the one where my husband works as the Family Life/Youth Director person) is on High Street in Clintionville. Where is Whole Foods? Duh. I could look it up in the phone book.... However, there is something on the other side of the street from church and at the end of the block (or the beginning of the next block) by the name of Whole World, I think, but it advertises on its sign natural foods and stuff like that, or something like that.
Yesterday, I wandered into Sunflower (Natural?) Foods which is also on High, but kinda near Hudson St. I don't know the names of the other streets by it, but ZLB Plasma is on the opposite side of the street, a couple of blocks down. There is also a Medterranian Food Market across the street from the plasma center, where I donate. Yesterday, I decided to finally go to the natural foods store. A little pricey, but it is a mom and pop joint (Bexley's natural food store is a bit cheaper, I think). I did walk out with a pound of organic oats for $.99 cents a pound. (Ironically, I almost bought some Kroger oats this week also for $.99 for the 16 oz canister and that was on sale.)
Anway, I'm still looking for the good places. Supposedly, the co-op farmer's market is in Bexley again this summer, but the one Saturday morning I've been home and able to look (or maybe two) it's not been there, and I've not seen the street signs advertising it. It's still in Clintonville, but we don't make it there on Saturday mornings. The good news is that the bus goes by the North Market, so I can get a transfer and go there. Ooh. I think I'll do that on Tuesday.
Oh, yeah. There's a coffee house/sandwhich shop, The Cornerstone, that's kinda by my church (Clinton Heights Lutheran) that has yummy looking salads and offers tofu instead of meat.:bobo: :vebo: Usually, I just go over there for their bottomless cup of coffee (almost as good as Cup O Joe) for $1.25 or .35 depending on who rings me up. I've had a bagel and a sandwhich there, too, both good. (The bagel with cream cheese came with enough cream cheese for two or three more toast and cream cheese sandwhiches that week.)
Okay. I've babbled enough. Can ya tell my coffee's kicked in?

Please forgive me. I've a habit of writing short essays.
IamJen, thanks for the link to www.vegohio.com I found a little public service ad in one of the Columbus alternative papers and went to the site. I think it was last summer when I just drastically cut meat out of my diet. It's cool. :hamster: (Me happy over the site and also hyped up on coffee.)
I just looked at the grocery list for Columbus. It's Sunflower Natural Foods (2591 N High), as I had thought. I also found Clintonville Community Market, which I'm going to look for sometime. (One of these Sunday afternoons when my husband stays to do some work, I'm going to walk High St. in Clintonville. There's several shops I wanna check out.)

Don't know if I'm actually happy that he was found, though, guess i was hoping the circus would move on and a caring understanding person would find him, maybe get him to a sanctuary.
