Lil Amy, Have you found any good places to eat at in Willoughby? The closer to the Lowes store the better it would be for me. I drive a semi part time & frequently deliver to that Lowes store on weekends. Hong To's is an OK Chinese place, but I'd like to try something different.

Two Crazy Babies,
Do you have a favorite restaurant in the Columbus area? I love the food at Dragonfly.

Hey Clevelanders! Looks like I must check out Tea House Noodles... Anyway, I just wanted to put in a plug for Liquid Planet, a smoothie shop at the corner of W110 and Clifton. They serve several yummy veg*n options. Also, Aladdin's in Lakewood (located at the corner of Detroit and Belle Ave) is a lebanese chain restaurant that serves lots of veg*n items. I had no idea there was a veggie grocery store in Middleburg Heights! I work there, but I haven't been to that plaza in about a year. I have no reason for not stopping there some day soon. Thanks for all the info guys. By the way, if any of you Clevelanders want to meet up sometime, I'm game.

Aladdin's is definately one of my favorites for vegan dishes. There is one in Lakewood as stated in the post above mine. There is also one in Cleveland Heights at Cedar/Fairmount. There is another in Middleburg Heights right on Bagley Road in the same shopping plaza as the Regal movie theatre.

Another fav of mine is Tommy's on Coventry in Cleveland Heights. That have the best vegan soy/rice shakes. A couple of days a week they have this nifty guy that comes and can make all sorts of things out of balloons for people. It's a great time if you have kids.

Johnny Mango is definately a rad place too. Great veggie and vegan dishes!

Nature's Bin in Lakewood is the best grocery store to do all your veg shopping. They have a ton of stuff!!!

I did it! I finally went to Tea House Noodles on E. 6th! It was awesome! Well worth the walk. I had the noodles with the curry sauce and tofu and a smoothie. I'll have to try a rice bowl next time. Thanks for telling me about it Ruthie!!!

Has anyone had any luck finding it around here?I have not seen it either. I think we need to get it by mail order. Perhaps we should start asking these stores to carry it?

it costs a gahzillion dollars to have it shipped! I'm a cheese adict and need a substitute asap! I guess its time to start bugging the stores to carry it.

Hey guys! I was so ashamed. When I came here earlier to post about Tea House Noodles, this thread was on the second page. UGH! How could such a happening crowd of local veggies stay so silent so long?

Ruthie- We should plan to meet for lunch sometime soon. Maybe Friday?

Anyone in teh Youngstown, Bordman, Austintown area has to make it to The Flamming Icecube!! it's a fully vegan cafe with the best soy lattes, you can't even taste the soy! And it has cool gifts and natural products and a healthfood store right next door. I go there with my boy all the time, absolute best place I've ever been to.

Man, I think I want to move to the east side when my lease is up. It kills me that I have to drive 25 minutes in any direction to get to an Indian restaurant from where I live. It's THAT important to me. :p I finally went to Tommy's and was diasappointed to find that it wasn't a pure vegetarian restaurant. I was so excited, thinking it would be my first time in one. Oh well. It was still neat seeing things like seitan and tempeh on the menu. :hungry:

I've been meaning to try Indigo Indian Bistro, probably soon. I ate at the Indian restaurant on Coventry the other day for lunch, and I was disappointed. I don't think I've tried any other Indian restaurants on the east side, but all the listings in the phone book are for the east side or south. There's "Muhgal" in Middleburg Heights, but it's so great, and there's Kashmir Palace near the Great Northern Mall, but again, both of those places are about a 25 minute drive from Lakewood. I hear there's one in North Royalton, but again, far. At least I don't live in the country :)

I've noticed no one's posted anything from Ohio since the election...

Hopefully you're all entwined in court battles to uphold our voters rights under the Constitution, and that's why you've not posted...

Did Indigo Indian Bistro close for good? They had a sign that seemed to indicate so, but the restaurant was still completely set up. Meh. I never did eat there. :/

April--it must be nice to live close to a lot of stuff. The closest restaurants to my house (15 minutes) are the "Amish home cooking" variety, and that tastes just like home. Ok, there is a breakfast place that makes darn good hashbrowns. I was really sad when the Mexican place seven minutes away closed. It was good food for practically nothing. Maybe that's why they closed--they weren't charging enough.

I'm just thankful we HAVE two Indian restaurants now, though they're both a good half hour away, especially in traffic.

They say Los Angelans think nothing of driving an hour to get somewhere. Sheesh. Major congestion. Glad I don't live there.

Yep, they closed. They got sued like no tomorrow when folks were getting sick and dying from the hep A on the green onions they were using.

They had to file bankruptcy (http://foodhaccp.com/msgboard.mv?parm_func=showmsg+parm_msgnum=1011375) in order to make payment to people affected.

Yikes! I hadn't heard about that. Thanks for checking it out, Ruthie!

ETA: Whoops! Der, that was Chi Chi's. I knew people were getting sick, but I didn't know it was hepatitis! I was in Baltimore at the time.

Not true. We've got Whole World on high street in Clintonville and loads of ethnic restaurants to choose from. I love columbus restaurants. It's very easy to be vegan here.

I just got back from visiting Columbus for the holidays and ate at Whole World and that new place on High Street near 2nd, Northstar Cafe. It isn't vegan but a lot of the items are vegetarian and can be made vegan. The vegan Northstar burger is fantastic. I tried to eat at Dragon Fly, but they ran out of food. I ate there when I was there the last time it was pretty good.
