I am floored!!!!! I was beginning to think there were no other veg*ns in Ohio let alone in Cincinnati. I have found myself lingering in the veggie sections of Kroger’s and Jungle Jim’s to see if any other veg*ns shopped there.:tame: I was becoming convinced that I was all alone.:vebo::vebo::vebo::vebo:

I 'm from Groveport Ohio. Does anyone one know where I am?

I am upset( to put it mildly), It is fair time again and my Fiance'(of 7 years)asked me to go!:sign:
My response:
" Do you enjoy walking around and gawking at animals that are stuffed in tiny cages waiting for someone to decide how much they are worth dead!!!??? And then we can go and smell their flesh burning on the grill and after that we can go and bash some goldfish on the head with ping-pong balls! !
I think he took it as a never-ask-her-that-again!!

I'm just east of Cleveland. I've been hear about 4 years after moving up from Columbus. I spent over 13 years there.

I love Cleveland compared to Columbus, but then my sister in law who grew up in Cleveland and is now living in Columbus swears Columbus is better. So, I guess it is just a matter of where you spend your "grown" years.

But I love the theater district and the West Side Market. I'm there at least once a month, sometimes as often as every week!

Good to meet you too Ms Ruthie B.

I've been over to the open air market a couple of times. One lady there sells great homemade soaps. I bought one a few weeks ago and love it.

If I see you while we're at the market, I'll definitely say hi. ^_^

That's certainly something!

Yep, I'm a hot-headed Aries with the temper to prove it.

Until I get to know folks a little better here, I'll probably just lose it in real life. My husband is used to it and this point and deals with it pretty well. Just give her chocolate and she'll shut up, kinda deal.

i am thinking of taking a weekend vacation around lake erie. i dont know anything about the area though (im in cincinnati). i did some research online but there is so much it is kind of overwhelming. put in bay, kelleys island... something like that sounds liek a nice weekend getaway. im looking for something relaxing, affordable, and maybe even a little touristy. i am *not* looking for a party with lots of people my age (27) and i do not plan on drinking or spending a lot of money.

any advice at all on which island to hit? what to do there? where to stay without spending a ton? a cute bed and breakfast? thanks!

Moving to Cleveland in a week, Have been looking for food shopping recomendations, Is there a Trader Joes or Whole Foods in the Area???
I can't seem to find much on the web or well I don't really know what towns are near Cleveland yet.
I am moving from N.J. about 5mi from NYC. I used to work a block from a Vegan deli in the city, I am starting to worry a bit...
Any advice on a co-op, markets and restaurants would be great.

Chekdemon-

There's a Wild Oats Market (which sounds very similar to Trade Joes from what I've heard) on the east side of the city. It's just off 271 at rt. 422. I can give you more specific instructions if you'd like, just pm me.

There's also the West Side Market. It is in the city itself (Wild Oats is more in the suburbs) and is a fantastic place for produce, spices, etc.

I hope this is at least somewhat helpful.

I will be moving to the Ohio city area so all is good to know.

Thanks,
I will be sure to let you know how things are going when I get out there and am back on line.

I turned on the TV for the first time in 24 hours and they did a story about rolling black outs and interviewing people complaining that they wish they had had some warning, but that they didn't mind doing their part. I kept thinking of these people as "other people" poor people had a rolling black out, etc. Then as the story was about the end- *poof* power went out. "Um, me too?" I thought. Darn.

Why am I not surprised? Right, because it is run by First Energy....

While the radiation excuse for not collecting a wipe sounds good, I'd want a expert (not paid by First Energy) to corroborate.

I'm betting the news isn't covering it so they don't incite panic or give terrorists any ideas

I agree. Shutting it down was one of the best things done for this area and keeping it shut down is absolutely necessary for the safety of everyone in NE Ohio and beyond.

The people who are posting in here but aren't going to Cedar Point are on my list. And it's not the list of VB chicks I want to hook up with. It's the other list.

I apologize that I won't be attending Michael but I have a previous engagement. I'm throwing my sister-in-law a bridal shower and since it is at my house, I kinda Have to be there.

I kinda figured you were joking, but I did want to go and thought I should explain why I can't. It isn't often such a perfect opportunity comes by.

Oh cool! I had no idea I took a picture of a government sponsored project, Ruthie! I just thought that barn was owned by some cool artistic farmers. :p

I'm sure the bells were quite expensive. The barns could have easily been paid for without and state funding, I'm sure!

$14 million in FY 2002 and $16 million in FY 2003. (FY=Fiscal Year)

I don't know what to say other than groan.

Of course, they will never bring this up when they talk how tight the budget is. :brood:

If it weren't for education we could paint more barns.

I recently moved back to my hometown of mansfield, OH....partly between clevo and columbus on I-71. I lived in Cleveland for about 6 years - went to college there and lived awhile in Boulder Colorado (sigh)!

Have met a few vegetarians and vegans - so I hope to get something organized soon as far as potlucks, etc. Since coming home, my veggie
propaghanda has led to my parents going vegetarian - whoo-hoo!
