We have infamous pig farmers over here.

Here in Xenia, we have corn everywhere. Including my front lawn, as well as the lawns surrounding us. :P
Haha, that's what we do here. We grow corn lawns instead of grass. :)
I saw a horrifying ad in the paper that said "FEEDER COWS FOR SALE! Out of grass, around 500-700 lbs, BIG. CALL FOR PRICES!" I almost called the guy and gave him an opinionated piece of my mind.

We have corn and soybeans. :p
At school, though, it's all corn. It's everywhere.

Continued from the Boston thread:
Going the veg restaurant in Akron later would be great for me. I'm home for a week for Thanksgiving, and something like two weeks for Christmas.
Columbus would be a little harder for me, because I don't have my own car. I could probably take a family member with me next summer, but I doubt I'd find the time during the school year since I'm home so seldom.

Thanksgiving might be hard since I always go to my grandsparents' in southern Ohio for T-day. Christmas would be easier, and there's usually not a lot of news demanding every waking moment for me the week after Christmas.

December 29, for example. I don't work on Saturdays, so it would be easy enough.

At the moment, I have no plans for the 29. :)

I penciled it in on my calendar. I won't plan anything else for that date unless we change the meetup. I'll PM some of the Ohio VBers I've met 'cause I haven't seen them in the Ohio thread in awhile.

I'd come for sure, as long as it isn't a blizzard yet. December's been pretty good lately for not having boat loads of snow. It would be nice to eat dinner with other vegetarians. I've only ate with other vegetarians 2x's since becomming veg. Plus, I'd like to see some folks I haven't seen in a while like Skylark, April, Thalia..

It may be just my imagination, but it seems like the past few years, the snow held off until after Christmas, and then we kept getting snow in late March and early April.
I would love to see you again, too!

I didn't know you were from around here, SotallyTober!
Last year, I went home for winter break and was all bummed that I wasn't going to experience snow at home this year. Then I came home for spring (or Easter--don't remember) break and the snow was up to my knees. I'd much rather have a white Christmas than a white Easter.
But hopefully the weather will cooperate for this. I don't know if I'm bringing anyone along yet, and there's no way I'll drive to Akron alone in a blizzard.

Iria, you mentioned earlier you're coming from the Dayton area. I live about an hour out from Akron, so you could certainly stop and ride the rest of the way with me. I have new tires and new brakes on my car, so it handles pretty well in the snow. (It also has a newly-patched exhaust system, a new alternator and a new battery, but we won't go into that. :brood:)

Oh, no, I only go to school in the Dayton area. At home, I'm about an hour east of Akron. Thanks for the offer, though!
There were two other people a couple pages back who live near Dayton and were considering coming. You might be thinking of them.

I'm getting myself confused--I momentarily forgot the whole reason to have it in December is you'll be home then and clearly not at school near Dayton. :o

By the way, was anyone affected by the flooding? My school was, but there weren't students there yet, so it could have been a lot worse.

:) Yup, Cleveland..westside.
BTW, I'd probably be out there earlier in the day. We were down around there yesterday (Dover) and visted a couple of wineries. There's tons of stuff to see in that area and it's only about 45 minutes from the Akron area. If I'm traveling that far, I may as well do a few things. Anyone want to meet me at the winery let me know..or if you want to ride with me that's cool.

One of the towns I cover was. It was a lot worse in neighboring towns outside my coverage area. We didn't get it anywhere near as bad as the Troy/Shelby area, though.

My county only got a little flooding. Although, any time we get alot of rain, our school basement floods. :P So the math teachers have to go in early to push all the water out! :P
