Originally they were closing in Dec. but about 2 weeks ago they let the staff know we were closing on sept.30. It was kind of a bad surprise for us all :(

Do you know when Chef Geoff's restaurant will be opening or where? I am going to absolutely shrivel up without their food. haha! Seriously though I can't wait and I hope he keeps some things from the PD menu. That would be awesome.

Its going to be in the plaza midwood area somewhere, hes not found a location yet, but since he bought all the stuff out of the PD kitchen and its in his momma's garage it should be opening soon, because shes not going to let him keep that crap in there forever. He said he'll be keeping the thai wrap and maybe a few other things, and that he'll probably run some peaceful dragon food as a special but he really wants his restaurants food to be unique.

Hello! I'm in Greenville. This is not a very veg*n friendly place though. Anyone else from around the area know about any good whole foods market or restaurant that I haven't noticed?

There are mainly steak places here (when I started to count, there are 12 within one mile radius from my apartment).

I did find one place the other day though. The Swiss Chalet, it's near the university (intersection of Charles and 10th), it has some really good vegan sandwiches and salads. Also has quite a bit of meat items, but just seeing any restaurant around here with more than five veg*n items on the menu is pretty surprising. Also there is a Thai food place on firetower that is really good about having a good selection of vegan food.

And there is an extremely small as close to a whole foods market i've seen on charles blvd, near the mall going the opposite direction of the university.

and of course kroger has a fairly good organic foods section.

but everytime i go to any other city, i'm always amazed at all the veg*n options there are.

For now I am attending the university here though, so I've still got another year left. But after I graduate, I'm thinking about moving to the western part of the state. The eastern part seems a bit more...conservative and anti-vegetarian, compared to the western part. It's what I've noticed anyway. And of course, I'm not saying everyone is like this, I have a few vegetarian friends here. But it is a trend I have noticed...

I live in Greensboro...There are some nice vegetarians here, but I usually run into not nice omni people who yell at me for not eating meat.

I'm from Wisconsin but I have family in Greensboro and am somewhat familiar with the city. I've spent time there probably a half dozen times. Can anyone tell me if there is a Co-op so I can shop there whenever I go out there again?

There is a co-op on Spring Garden called Deep Roots Market. Also, there is an Earth Fare (similar to Whole Foods) on Battleground! Greensboro is very veg friendly. Oh -- you must go to Boba House on Tate Street! :bobo:

Any updates on when we might "Meet" Chef Geoff again? :) I'm really looking forward to him opening his own place. Especially if it's closer than a 50 minute drive from my house! Plaza Midwood would be awesome!

Guess what?!! I'm moving to NC....just so everyone up there is forewarned ^_^

I'll be living in Clemmons...in some sort of a reasonable drive to Charlotte..and if there is not proper vegan fare in Clemmons/Winston-Salem, I will be driving once a week or so to Charlotte, if anyone wants to go on shopping adventures with me and possibly with tikes (my 3 yr old daughter would accompany me on 1/2 the trips)...

^_^

plus, if anyone's interested in vegan potlucks, I'm in!
thanks! ttyl

I just moved from Charlotte to Wilmington, so I know the area pretty well if you need any food recommendations, I'm pretty sure there is a whole foods in Winston-Salem so you shouldn't have to go to Charlotte too often, my best friend is a vegetarian and she lives in Greensboro so I'll see if she knows whats up there.

Hello North Carolina :)

I live in/around Charlotte, and i have found that the best place to eat is at Mellowmushroom! I either order a veggie calzone with soy cheese or a soy cheese pizza with spinach and tomatoes. I almost applied there but then realized i might start hating the food and i dont want that! I have not ran accross any veggie restauraunts near me IN charlotte... do you guys have any suggestions?

Hello North Carolinians! (is that a word?)
I remember reading a little while back that Asheville was voted veggie friendliest small city or something along those lines, and we happen to be visiting friends there next month. Just wondering if you have suugestions as to where to eat, nothing too fancy, but a middle price range place?

Thanks in advance!

I love love love asheville, rosetta's cafe is my favorite place to eat there. It is very inexpensive, and they have really good vegan nachos (w/ a nut. yeast cheese) mashed potatoes and gravy, etc.

dunno if anyone mentioned this, yet, but Sage, in Chapel Hill is AWESOME!!!!!!

I went there yesterday. It was INCREDIBLE. I'm very glad I got the chance to check it out ^_^

I'll be in Raleigh this coming week mon-fri most likely, lunch hours, if anyone knows of anything over there, it'd be 100% helpful for me ^_^

Today, went to Greek Fiesta in Raleigh...was awesome as well!!! I got the Veggie sampler thing that's 7.99 without the tzaziki (cucumber sauce cuz it's made of cucumber and *yogurt*)...but it was awesome ^_^

Bother places come highly recommended
!

Glad you like Sage. I can't believe that we only have one vegetarian restaurant in this town. I haven't lived in Raleigh in a couple of years, but some places that are good in the downtown/NC State area are Neomonde, Lilly's Pizza (also Third Place Cafe/Coffee next door), Abyssinia, Dalat, India Mahal, Mellow Mushroom, Sunflowers, Whole Foods and Irregardless Cafe off the top of my head. If you need any more specific suggestions, directions, etc, send me a PM.
