Alllll alone in upstate NY.
I'm realizing more and more how much upstate sucks... there aren't ample veggies to hang with and it's severely lacking veg*n dining establishments.

^you're not in upstate, I am currently living in Watertown, NY; it is tre terrible. And on another note I lived in Albany a few years back on Washington Ave. I worked for the Homeless Action Commitee over on Pearl Street. Do you like Shades of Green?

:hi: I am here also. In the wonderfully sucky Utica area. That I sometimes get confused with hell.

I have some close friends in Utica. What don't you like about it? Utica is very ethnically diverse for a city of that size. Overall, I'm not a big fan of NY state in general and plan on going back to VT in a year or so.

I think I just heard you describe my area of Ohio, too. But that's why we have VB and VB gatherings. The gatherings just aren't often enough or nearly long enough.

There is actually a veg*n meetup group in Albany who meets once a month. I'm a little shy about that sort of thing, believe it or not. :P

If they had a message board, would it be easier to talk to them on there and then meet them in person?

Well yea! I don't want to just walk into a restaurant and be like "Hey Vegetarians! I'm Megan!"

RC, I can't believe we didn't get to meet, especially since we were in the same hotel!! :( :)
I'm only two hours from you....we should take a ride someday and meet in the middle, like say, New Paltz, or Kingston (don't really know where 'middle' is)! But there probably aren't any veggie places there, either!

I know! I had me a bit of heat exhaustion. lol. Spent a few hours with really violent chills and a stabbing side cramp drinking fruit water, then I took a bath, then I was better.
We were all dopey Sunday morning. Someone tried to get into our hotel room frantically really really early. Since we'd hung out with the VB crew til waaay too late... it was just.. not pretty. haha.
Where in the 845 zone do you live? My parents live in New Rochelle so I'm there with fair regularity.

Why ever not? I'd do that! When Chrissy Hynde opens up Vegeteranian in Akron in September, I'm going to be there with bells on. But I won't declare myself to be Megan.

I used to...haven't had them in a little over a year though. I think they are being phased out by some new method, but I can't remember what it's called. Very interesting that NYC salons aren't doing them at all.

Cafe Blossom Opens, Another Vegan Park Slope Restaurant?, and more!
http://supervegan.com/blog/entry.php?id=926
Cafe Blossom opened this past weekend! As previously reported, the new Upper West Side vegan restaurant will serve "a wide assortment of gourmet cooked and raw cuisine" including several favorites from its sister restaurant, Blossom in Chelsea. It has indoor and outdoor sidewalk seating, so make sure to stop by and enjoy a meal outdoors before the weather gets too cold!
