I have been there and in fact I am going there to teach this Summer! :nana: I am so excited! :sunny:
You must love it if you have been there and are now going again to teach there.
Have you ever been to Kripalu in Massachusetts? I have been there once just to check it out. Although the receptionists were friendly, I found the people who attended there to be a bit snubby/reserved, which turned me off. However, I cannot judge my experience at Kripalu on one visit alone. I plan to go again.
Coming to NYC 8/9 - 8/14. Any locals interested in a meet-up at some cool vegan or vegan-friendly restaurant with Mr. and Mrs. epski?

I've been to Candle 79 purrpelle. It was a bit fancier than the Candle Cafe, was a few years ago, IIRC. I thought they were both great, but I preferred the Cafe ambiance; I think they're only a few blocks apart from each other. HTH.

Hey, I might be able to one day with my bf, if you wouldn't mind that. I am dorming in the Bronx now, but am moving back down to midtown (also dorm) in about a week I think. I still don't know for sure because our office of residential life if the disgrace of my university lol. Feel free to PM me and we can see if something is possible. I have been wanting to go to a vegan place since I first started college and it hasn't happened yet. Unless Whole Foods food counts lol.

Candle 79 is GREAT!
Joy and Bart are very nice and it carries onto their people.
Candle Cafe is also very good, down to earth adn they have many more 'goodies' to choose from. 79 is very elegant, nice and relaxing.
Have Fun!
Epski and Regina Celtarum: I might be a able to make it,.

I haven't heard from Epski. According to his profile, he is coming all the way from California though, so let's give him time to travel here, since he might be on his way across the country. Maybe he will have internet access when he gets to NY.
Hi, you two. I'm meeting up with some other vegans from The Post Punk Kitchen forums in Brooklyn on Thursday night. I'm in town now, though, and still haven't figured out dinner in the city tonight before I meet up with a friend for drinks, so if it isn't short notice, let's try to do dinner tonight. Otherwise my schedule is a little less filled out. There's a wedding on Sunday in Brooklyn. Saturday is a mystery. I'm staying with in-laws in Long Island.
E-mail me at eric AT ananimalfriendlylife DOT com and I'll send you my cell # to make meeting up easier. Oh, and send your real names AND screen names, so I know who you are!
I'm not able to check mail often, so I'll get to it as soon as I can!
Hope to see you.

ON Long Island. not in. Just to let you know. I am from LI. lol. :)
Unfortunately, I am not sure it looks possible for me after all. It would have had to be during the week (and being in the Bronx and having to come down to Manhattan, I would have had to plan it out  ) because I have a busy weekend, moving to the other campus saturday, then going home to LI til sunday night probably. I hope you enjoy your stay though. If you are able to I highly recommend going out east to Montauk Point. It is awesome. I am not sure where on the Island you are staying though. Have fun!!
I live about 150 miles up the river, and I'd probably only be able to meet you on Manhattan. Connecting out to Brooklyn, Long Island or the Bronx might be tricky (I get around by bus and train).
If we don't pull this meetup off, enjoy the meeting with your friends and the wedding, Epski. Have fun moving, Regina.

Thanks. It is a drag and a hassle but unfortunately part of college. Only two more years for me though!

Thanks for the tips. I guess I won't meet you, though. Probably won'thave time for Montauk Point. BTW, I'm as likely to say ON Long Island as I am to speak like New Yorkers and say that I'm going to go wait ON line. Otherwise I'd have to say ON Hawaii, and ON New Zealand. You get my drift. Crazy New Yorker.

Tonight we're probably just going to go to Zen Palate since we're stuck here ON Long Island for the evening. Tomorrow we'll probably eat in Brooklyn, since that's where the wedding is, and they've done nothing to accommodate our dietary preferences, sadly. Monday, me and Mrs. epski are probably going to meet up for dinner with the two people that run veganfriendly.com. Other than that, our day is open, so we could get to Manhattan early enough for lunch and hanging out in the city, if that works for you, Tom. E-mail me, though. I just don't have time to get to all the message boards to check every one. I'm missing posts!

My wife reminded me that we're meeting up with someone on Monday for lunch and to see "Barnyard," though there's nothing to preclude you from joining us, if you can make it. That's assuming we can get Isa to join us in Manhattan instead of Brooklyn, since we have a dinner date in the city.

LOL. Hope you have a good time. In a nutshell, in Hawaii or in New Zealand because those are the real political names of the state/country/principality or whatever. Long Island is not its own jurisdiction. Long Island is just the name of the Island, and nothing else. It's not the name of the county, or borough or anything. We live in towns, in counties that happen to be on Long Island, in New York State. My address is not # street, long Island, New York, zip code, it is # street, town, New York zip code. Hope that clears it up. A lot of people don't get it lol.

Ah, well that explains it. We just came back from lunch in Hicksville at Dosa Diner, which has a vegetarian Indian buffet. Real easy to eat vegan there. Not as good as House of Dosas, where we ate dinner down the street a couple of nights ago, but good prices, and pretty tasty, if a little spicier. Nice to know Zen Palate isn't the only vegetarian restaurant out this way!:bobo:

Do you have the address of where you went by any chance? I didn't know there was a Zen Palate on LI either. Where they are located would be great if you have the addresses.

Yea, we abbreviate it to LI, just as shorthand.
Thanks for the address.
