I am not sure where you are from, nut Vegan Treats makes large cakes for MANY restaurants in New York. Maybe you can go to one of them and buyt he whole thing or ask them to order an etra one and you pay up front. You will not regret having a vegan Treat -TRUST ME!

www.vegantreats.com has a list of restaurants on the website.

You can always call Vegan treats and ask them o drop one off for you at the restaurant. It is worth a shot!

Good Luck!

i just saw their website the other day! it's lust! i'm in lust!!!

Thanks for the tip. I got a carrot cake from Red Bamboo (the cake is from Vegan Treasts). I paid $66 (!) for it. It was very good though.

ZEN Palate was pretty good, the dining room was pretty expensive for what you get. I hear the cafe is better.

VP2 is better by far. The Hot & Sour soup there is untouchable.

thanks for the information. by the way, I've heard ZEN palate is going to open more the cafes in the near future.

My experiences with Zen Palate were got or cold, both cuisine and service-wise :( VERY rude and unacommodating service (so bad that I wanted to leave alltogether but my friend got the food to go) and the food was either REALLY good or REALLY mediocre. I am open to giving them another try when I go to New York to teach this summer though :D

Hello there. Just saying hi, because I am a New Yorker! I guess I should say something about food or something. I buy my food at Whole Foods and I really like it.

I would love to go to that. I saw Peaceable Kingdom when it premiered at Alice Tully Hall in 2004. That changed my life. I became veg after that. I cannot affor what the gala costs though. some day when i have a career... I think someone I know might be going. She gets there free i think through an organization she is in, but i am not sure if that was only last year. She is the one who brought me to PK though.

WE ARE IN!
Yes it is expensive, but I kow I will blow $300 on something stupid inthe next few weeks.
I am hoping hat it is a nic event and ALL about the animals. My daughter is against it because she busted her butt there as a volunteer for three months and they treated her like a piece of dirt. I was very uspet at the way the founder treated he volunteers and staff, but she is gone. Apparently things are better now.
We are being very positive and want to think they are doing all this for the animals. I will let you all know Sunday!
The bonus is haning out in NY all day. We will probably go early to get on th Today Show! I love going early and getting on there promoting my DVD's. :)

Hello everyone!
There are not enough words to tell you what a great nght we had!
600 people were there!!!
600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was such a great, GREAT event. The speakers were awesome. Daryl Hanah, Loretta Switt, Alicia Silverstone, Mobey the list goes on!

Got my pic with Alicia :) She is VERY down to earth and cool. She is a very dedicted vegan and we are lucky to have her on our side helping us spread the word.
I am very, very tired and will check back in tomorrow.
This is such a great thing everyone..I know it is expensive, but if you could just save $1 a day for the next year, that will more than cover for the ticket itself.
What a great way to spend the night - with fellow vegans who are passioante about what they do and who they care for. Such a fabulous atmosphere to be around.

Good Night..I will check in tomorrow.

Is anyone from or familiar with the Bronx? I need a good health food store, preferably in the Fordham area.

Has anyone been to the Omega Institute in Rhinbeck, New York? It seems like a beautiful place where I can learn a lot and meet people with my interests. It is expensive for me, but I think it would be worth it.

Also, does New York City have a yearly vegetarian food fair? I have not seen any such information and am surprised since it is so diverse in culture.

:hi: Hi LotusFlower. I am in NYC, but unfortunately I cannot think about moving into an apartment while still an undergrad. It would be great to exchange any names of veg restaurants or health food stores. I am on the west side, upper-mid I guess you would call it.

Yes, that will be great.

I have been trying out a lot of different places. But my most favorite ones are somewhat downtown.
Red Bamboo - I really like their vegan deserts, too.
Tien garden - this is on Allen street near the 2nd Ave. F train stop.

Also chinatown has a lot of good vegetarian Dim Sun places.
