Where in Brick is Colony Market? I'm in Brick all the time. I go to the Farmer's market next to Cost Cutters often. Is it near there? (We just moved about 30-40 mins. south of Brick in '03, but I still have family there.)

yep. It's on cedarbridge avenue.( or mantoloking road) prolly 5 minutes from CC.:pibo:
I think I've mentioned Thinisu (http://ebilva.com/) on Easton Avenue in New Brunswick (near Rutgers) once before, but you should all visit. The hours are long, which is really great from a late night snack, and the prices are really low. Best of all, the portions are huge and tasty. I would reccommend the vegan fat cat which is a humongous wrap full of really tasty rice, veggies, and loads of other things. They have a pretty small menu, about half of which is vegan and most of which is vegetarian. It's just a fun place with a really great atmosphere and good food.

I've been sunflower house few times and it is located in Princeton. The dishes there are very tasty.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am new to the site. I've been vegan since 1995 (not always during pregnancies though). My family and I live in Monmouth county, very close to Down to Earth, our favorite restaurant, where we can be found with our babies at least once/twice a month.
Hello, I'm also Michelle S and also in New Jersey. Welcome to VB :hi:

Date: June 3rd 2006 , a Saturday, I am hosting another Veggie BBQ/Pool party in Atco, NJ. Its woodzy land and easy to find if you know your directions ok :p
I will be sending out an email to all who are/were on the list from last year or had asked about it previously.
There will be many vegan and vegetarian dishes available. If you would like to bring something please let me know what it is and its ingredients so that I may print it out for the day of the party for any who are interested. There will be no alcohol unless you bring your own, and at that drink at your own discretion and use your own judgment when enough is enough. There are plenty of seats and areas to eat at tables around the pool area. There is usually more than enough parking along the street areas which there is low traffic in front of the house.
Time: Will be 12 Noon to 6PM at 736 Fox Run Rd in Atco, NJ 08004. See directions posted at bottom.
Please RSVP as soon as possible. If you would like to bring a boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband or good friend then that’s fine too. Non-Vegetarians are also welcome, they usually like the food too :p
If anyone gets lost to this they can call me at 609-610-1826... Its not hard to get to and after you get off of RT73 for people coming from western areas, its not busy traffic at all. If anyone thinks they can bring food please let me know. It would be great to have vegan potato salad or some pastas etc, ill have many vegetarian/brand veggie burgers, boca/morninstar/gardenburger/veggiepatch stuff. Can email me if you like at Chreha@hotmail.com thanks.

Sounds like fun.... too bad it would be a 3 and a half hour drive.
"If anyone else from the Baltimore, DC, Northern VA area wants to go... maybe we can carpool"
Mycoolcats: What is the maximum allowable occupancy of your backyard? ;) hee hee.
I do make a really good vegan pasta salad and sangria!!!

lol well im sure something like 40 people can "comfortably" fit near the pool area and small deck. I would guess though that out of all that are invited 30 or fewer will be there so i doubt thats an issue :p
Im asking a couple other people from that area too so if someone does decide to come the carpooling idea would be good. If i owned a house id offer to let people stay over, but i dont, back in reality zone i have a stupid little apartment for $700 a month lol

Hmmm interesting... I live in Southern California, and I've been pumping my own gas for at least 25 years, probably longer. I've gotten so used to it that I don't think twice about it. Self-service gas has always been cheaper than full-service here. It never occurred to me until now that self-service wasn't common in all 50 states, and that people who are used to full service would insist on keeping it that way.

it won't nessesarily be cheaper here, not to mention to fact that it would put people out of work. some seem to think that the gas station owners would automatically pass along the savings to the public but that's not so.
one time I was on a work trip to a furniture factory in WV. we (a bunch of NJ women) were in a company van and literally waited outside the gas station/bait shop/breakfast place that we had stopped at for 20 minutes before we realized one of us was going to have to get out and pump:lol:  .

You Know You're from New Jersey When...
...you recognize or can relate to at least 10 of these:
You've been seriously injured at Action Park.
You know that the only people who call it "Joisey" are from New York (usually The Bronx) or Texas.
You don't think of citrus when people mention "The Oranges."
You know that it's called "Great Adventure," not "Six Flags."
You've ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.
You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 am.
Whenever you park, there's a Camaro within three spots of you.
You remember that the "Two Guys" were from Harrison. ....
there's more-click the link

"Anyone from central jersey, somerset county? I've lived here my whole life (14 years, not too long) and its ok, sometimes I just wish I could go live in California or someplace else."
misq-You're only fourteen? I have to say I was surprised/impressed as you seem so knowledgeable. Did you grow up veg*n?
BTW-I'm from north eastern NJ, right next to Hackensack. There are a ton of good farmer's markets in the area, but I've yet to investigate vegan restaurants. I hear the Cheesecake Factory has a few good vegan items, though. Also, a Whole Foods is supposed to open at Bergen Mall (on route four in Paramus):pibo:

Aww, thanks, that was one of my old posts. I'm 16 now and I'm no longer so antsy to get away from home. I went vegetarian when I was 8 or 9 and I went vegan a few months ago. I've learnt a lot from spending time on Veggieboards. Welcome!
