mmm...down to earth is the yummiest restaurant in all the land!! their seitan satay is delicious. i think i might go there to eat either today or tomorrow. its a 40 minute drive for me w/o traffic.

Bound Brook-nice farmer's market on Saturdays in the municple parking lot.
Have friends/family in P-burg as well.

I haven't bee to the Farmer's Mrket in BB, I'm right by it during the week, but in P'Burg on the weekends. Hillsborough used to be much nicer, imo, a couple decades ago before they really started building it up like it is now, condos everywhere.

Hi! My father and step mother live in Hillsborough. I lived with them for a while when I was a teenager and my sister did, too. In fact, she graduated high school there in 2001. :)

I gradutated back in 1980 (1'm 42) but my son graduated in 2001. He was the first in the family to be veg'n. That's who informed me about all the animal stuff.

I was going to go to that bbq but I was away in Florida. So next time there is a bbq anywhere near the South Jersey/Gloucester County area let me know. I would love to come. I'll even "try" to cook a nice veg*n dish.

How many people think they could come to one on September 17th or september 24th? both saturdays. Im going to try and plan one for that day and see how many people can make it. Last time no actually "vegetarians" but one showed up and all the rest were mostly friends of mine which still liked all the food. Anyone that can make anything vegan if possible would be great! I encourage people to bring a friend if they like so they can try the food out too.

ok guys/gals. Its going to be officially September 25th a sunday, some people seem to have things they do moreso on saturdays and are more freely available sundays. I am also probably going to NC for the veggie festival thing they have on the 24th/saturday, so ill be back in time for the veggie bbq and get foods made up and all. I wish i could get a list of people at least interested so when i am going to set a date etc for these, i can just bulkmail a "interested party" list. If anyone would at least like to be on that list, post or email me your email address with a short note, thanks.

Since I go to Monmouth University, I want to see Bruce Springsteen's summer home. I know he has one in the area...perhaps in Deal. Does anyone know exactly where it is? I am tired of guessing. Sorry if this is random. But, I know a lot of people on here are music buffs. :) Thanks!

We had one potluck picnic in August at a park in Union County and had a great time. We are tentatively planning our next even for October in South Jersey. The kids love meeting up with other veggy kids as do the parents. All are invited so if you have vegetarian or vegan kids, please join!

BTW: The photo on the front page of that site are my kids, Ben & Sarah. It was taken while we were at a local Shop-Rite protesting against Proctor & Gamble and handing out cruelty-free shopping guides along with vegan literature.
