That sucks. Do they still have alot of veggie food? Not that I would ever go there again now that they decided to add dead animals to their menu, but I'm just curious.
It's still the same place with the same huge vegetarian menu. They just added a small paper "meat" menu. Its kind of like all the years us vegetarians had to suffer with the little square box of 5 vegetarian items in regular resteraunts, only now the square box is for the meat eaters.
They are also no longer Kosher. I am not sure what's up with that either. The Philadelphia one is still listed as Kosher but I dont know if they now have a "meat" menu either.

Frost, maybe we could have an "end of summer" getogether to meet some people? Who would be interested? Not sure how many of you online are close to central area new jersey? Would be like a outdoor veggie bbq.

I live in a little town called Woodbury. Ever heard of it? I am originally from Center City, Philly. But moved because of my dads job, as a fireman. We loved to far away from his station in Deptford, and he was always late. So we had no choice.

Hey fellow New Jersey folk! I just discovered this thread. I live in Jefferson Township in North Jersey, but live 5 days a week in West Long Branch for college.
My favorite NJ veg restaurants:
1: My fave, Down to Earth! It's ALL VEGAN! Yummy cookies and apple pie!
2: Veggie Works
3: Veggie Heaven
4: Zafra
5: Golden Teapot
Anyone interested in going to the vegan Thanksgiving potluck held by the VSSJ? If you are, contact me because if my friend will go with me, I'll be there!!!!

I was just at Down to Earth Saturday night. Veggie Works is my favorite off of your list. Did you know that they are moving to Red Bank? I'm not sure when, but before the end of the year I believe. As you know, parking in Red Bank sucks, so I hope they found a place that has a parking lot. I think it's going to be on Monmouth Street, which is where the Count Basie Theater is I believe. Have you been to Veggie Heaven in Parsippany and Teaneck? The Teaneck one has a bigger menu, a few non-Asian food specials (the meatloaf & meatball sandwich is good), and really good vegan cheesecake.

YES! Veggie Works is moving to Red Bank??? YES! I was so sick of driving to Belmar! Parking in Red Bank makes my life hurt. I HATE it! But, I looooove Red Bank!
I went to VH in Parsippsany. It was YUM! Parsippsany is pretty close to my house, so I went to that one.

I know how you feel. Hard-to-find parking should be worth it since it's about 12 miles closer than Belmar. I just hope they're not closed for any length of time in between moves. I also heard they won't have a salad bar at the new location, which sucks. I used to like to eat a lot of salad first so I wouldn't finish my entree so I have some to take home. And since you often have to wait so long for a table and their service is so slow it was nice to be able to eat something before the meal comes. Oh well, I won't complain, as long as they stay open I'll be happy, since there was rumors of them closing for good.

If they move to Red Bank, that would mean two awesome veg restaurants within a 5 mile proximity of one another...that's it, I'll never be able to get out of Red Bank than lol. I almost live there now as it is. When I go home, I actually miss Red Bank lol. It's a bad obsession. :D

There's another place in Red Bank, also on Monmouth Street, called The Eurasian Eatery. They serve dead animals, but they have a decent amount of vegan options. I went to Veggie Works tonight, and the waitress said they have to be out of their present location by the end of November. She doesn't have a set date as to when they'll open in the new one, and she doesn't know if they'll have a parking lot.
I feel left out, not ever having been to these places

She's right....there's not much good about NJ, but Veggie Works helps make up for that :).

Yet another Veggie Works update: Someone who works there bought the place from the current owner. They are staying in the same location in Belmar. They will be closing on Dec. 15 for a couple of weeks or so for renovations, and will reopen with the new name "Kaya's Kitchen". The menu will be smaller, but similar type of food I believe.

I went to Veggie Heaven today! I got the almond "chicken" w/ brown rice and veggies. OMG! It was soooo good! I got the tofu cheesecake...again, OMG OMG OMG OMG, I thought I died and literally went to heaven!!!!!!! SO good. I had a *sip* of this nasty onion drink...gross. They took it off the bill though. :)
 I've never been to any of these places

The building that The Golden Teapot Restaurant was in was condemned and they are closed. Has anyone heard of them re-opening in a new location?
Not only was the food wonderful, but the owner was an incredibly nice guy.

The mini mall had a fire. It will probably reopen but not any time soon. Other bad news, Singapore vegetarian in Cherry Hill is no more as of last month. Its now just a standard Chinese place.

On a more positive note, they re-opened Veggie Works with the name Kaya's Kitchen. It was delish! I am sad they did away with a lot of stuff on their menu though, including the salad bar. But, it was awesome regardless! :)

Singapore was my absolute favorite (alright, aside from Gianna's in Philly). We wanted to order take out from there for Valentine's. When my b/f picked me up from work that day he looked like he was about to cry, then he gave me the bad news. But he said another place opened up 2 doors away from it. It's called Golden Duck and has a similar menu to Singapore, but much smaller and has non-veg options as well. Food tasted pretty much the same, but I miss being able to pick ANYTHING from the menu and not have to get it specially modified and then be paranoid that they got the order right   :-/ I wonder if the Singapore in Philly is still there?
