this has nothing to do with vegetarianism, but the pirates will be at the Tom's river parade. I die in a swordfight as well. :)

Does anyone have any experience with eating vegan in Ocean City? My husband, son and I are going to be there for 4 days (on the boardwalk) and I've googled around and found these places, but I'd love to know if there's any more-
Bashful Banana www.bashfulbanana.com
Luna Sea Health Food Market- 301 E. 10th St.
Prasad- 947 Asbury Ave.
Heavenly Health Natural Foods + Eatery
I'm going to call around too and make sure these places are still in business and will be open.
Please let me know if I'm missing anything good!
I LOVE Ocean City NJ. Grew up going there every summer and I miss it so much. Unfortunately most of the boardwalk food I love is not vegan, so we won't talk about that. But the Bashful Banana has great veggie wraps and other healthy vegan food! As of last summer they were still in business on the boardwalk.

I was so excited to go there! We're going to OC the week after Labor Day, so I called them to see if they'll be open. They said they most likely will only be open over the weekend, and we're going from Tues-Fri. :( At least we might get to try them out on Fri. I'm bringing so much food with us, and we'll most likely just be eating a lot of vegan junkfood, but hey, it's vacation right? :sunny:

Thanks for the notice. Actually the new veggie place will be "Zen Palate".

ways to tell if you are from NJ
There is no beach, just "the shore".
You know what town Bruce Springsteen is from, which high school he went to and where he lives now.
You know what town Bon Jovi is from and can spell his real name.
You know where Kevin Smith's comic book store is. You also believe he's the model for the Simpsons' "Comic Book Guy".
"Been there . . . been there . . . drove past that . . . shopped there once" -- your response to the opening credits of The Sopranos.
You can toss 35 cents out of your driver's side window into a funnel of 12" diameter at 55 mph.
You've been to two malls in one day.
When you want to know where people live, you ask "Which exit?"
It's funny how the New Jersey state bird is the third finger on everyone's hand.
You can't believe that MTV went to Seaside Heights -- a second time!
NJ State Motto: "Road Closed"
You can quickly rattle off the names of ten friends whose last names end with an "i" or an "a" -- and five names that begin with an "O". Your sister became a nun and your uncle is under indictment.
[You're used to that strange smell that people from other states complain about.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but 3 rights do make a left.
Pizza is listed as "Tomato Pies" in the phone book.
You know about the southbound speed trap on the Parkway right after the Arts Center.
Pizza isn't pizza if it doesn't flop in the front with grease dripping off the end.
You hate people who think you love Bon Jovi.
You are a safe driver in New Jersey, but deadly elsewhere.
It isn't Atlantic City. It's A.C.
You can't remember when Clifton didn't win a softball championship.

My boyfriends family just bought a house in OC so i will be spending my summer there this year. I LOVE that town. I was reading their website... lots of progressive enviornmentaly firendly policy is being enacted. Plus all the small family owned businesses are fantastic. The pet store on asbury is the wonderful!

Yeah! I'm not the only one! Yep, go to Veggie Works, although Belmar as a town in general embodies everything I dislike about our culture. I live a few towns south, in Manasquan, which is a little more my pace. I hope you atleast live someplace quiet up north, something the shore area lacks, especially with the upcoming summer madness.
Peace!
You live in Manasquan?! That's awesome! :D My great-grandparents lived in Sea Girt and my grandparents live in Manasquan. I live in Virginia, but I try to visit my grandparents twice a year at Thanksgiving and in the summer.
Are there any good veggie places in that area? I found out about Kaya's Kitchen, which is only twelve minutes away. :hungry: I really should explore the area more. :)
if anyone lives in bergen county and likes indian food, check out http://bhoj.us, it's in elmwood park. tons of veggie options. the owner's a vegetarian. i've posted a full review on my site http://leafygreen.info

I love living in New Jersey, my whole family lives within 5 miles of each other. It's awesome, I plan on staying here when I get married and such. I want to live in other places, but since my whole family is in the area I couldn't live for good because I love hanging out with my family during the holidays.

Where is Stone Harbor? I think I live nearby, I'd love to try it out.
Okay, I just checked out Yahoo Maps and I live no where near Stone Harbor, an hour and a half to be exact. Plus, it closes in mid-September. Oh, well. Maybe next summer.
