Hi. We are planning a trip that includes Vegas later this week. My husband and I are vegans. But we will be travelling with my family who are omni. I think they will enjoy the experience of a stereotypical Vegas buffet (by the way, anybody knows a good one?) but I am afraid we two are going to starve to death. So.. Is this possible? -- for vegans to survive on a Vegas buffet. Anybody has suggestions on more vege friendly buffet?

I don't want to be a military vegan to drag them to raw food place. My poor little sister is allergic to nuts, which is pretty much the base of most raw food.

Thanks a bunch.

My final destination is Vegas, but I will have a 6 hour layover in the Reno Airport. Any nearby attractions I can see or places to eat that are in walking distance (or cheap taxi ride)? Any suggestions?

This thread's been dead for a while, and I'd kind of like to see a revival. I've been in Vegas for almost 3 years, have been dairy free for 1.5, and vegan for about 8 months now.

I've got a great support network with my kung fu buddies, a large portion of whom are vegan, but would like to see and meet more veggie heads in the area. Being shao-lin, and always working out, we're also always looking for places to eat!

Sound out if you're in the area and have something to contribute.

Vegas resident here. I am looking for health nuts in the area to volunteer for a foundation I am starting to educate teens about nutritional health. If you are interested, please message me. Thanks!

Oh and for people coming here to visit looking for good veg restaurants try Go Raw. There are two locations. They have all organic, vegetarian and vegan food. It is AWESOME!!!

On the strip -
Cheesecake Factory inside the Caesar's Forum Shops
California Pizza Kitchen inside the Mirage and the Fashion Show Mall
P.F. Chang's inside the Aladdin
Harley Davidson Cafe on the strip

Off the strip-
Capriotti's Sandwhich Shop near the Sahara Hotel
Rainbow's End Vegetarian Restaurant - about a mile from the Sahara

Anyone have any updates or further suggestions to those above?

I am going to Vegas next month for my 40th birthday. Would prefer to stay on the Strip and not really cab it anywhere; will only be there for three nights, so am looking for vegan-friendly places that my omni wife and I can both enjoy.

Are there any other restaurants/buffets on the Strip that have tofu dishes besides P.F. Chang's?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions. I will post an update after I return on my luck in finding good vegan food on the Strip.

The only vegan friendly places on the strip are going to be buffets. Even then, you're going to have to pick fruit and chinese sections of the buffet... or food courts. There's an Ichiban in the fashion show mall that is pretty good. The people behind the glass always compliment me for my veggie choices too =) If you were willing to travel a little bit, I could open it up a bit, but your kind of limited if you want to stay there. There's an awesome place about 5 miles east on Flamingo called long life veggie, and a couple other spots about town you can survive at. Sunflower market is west on Tropicana, and you can supplement there if you need...

Sorry, Vegas isn't as progressive when it comes to a cruelty free lifestyle. Coming from Colorado, I find the choices were diminished sharply. Now I eat at home a lot =)

Vegas sucks when it comes to Veg food. But in a year and a half there will be a very nice vegetarian place, right on the strip!!! (hopefully) ;)

I live in Las Vegas and am currently working on a monster site for all the cool and off the beaten path things to do in Las Vegas (as well as the touristy things that ARE worth checking out) It is NOT COMPLETE AS OF NOW.... BUT I did want to share the link of the Work-In-Progress page that lists Veggie friendly places to eat in Sin City.
Bookmark it and hopefully it will be nearer completion in the next few months.

well.... i just tried to post the url, but since i'm a newbie - i can't post a link yet. so if you go to Mondo-Vegas dot com (don't forget the dash)
and scroll down to the Places to Eat or Drink - there is a link to "Vegetarian"

okay - and on a related front, there are now 2 Wild Oats Markets - which for raw foodists they make Organic Fresh Vegetable Juices WHILE YOU WAIT!!!and there are 2 Whole Foods Markets as well... The new Henderson/Green Valley store is waaaayyy over the top in terms of it's size and offereings.

so for anyone who says Vegas sucks for vegetarians - don't believe 'em. We have been vacationed here for over 10 years and always ate well. and since we finally moved here full time last sept. we're still eating well!

sorry - i keep reposting in this thread, but it's all relevant.
i intentionally did NOT include the "Go Raw" restaurant out near the lakes in my Mondo-Vegas website.

My friend used to be a chef there and one day they sent him out to the market to go buy some 'organic' vegetables. but the guy who ran the place said don't worry about getting "organic." my friend left for the store and never returned to work there again.

and quite frankly, before i had heard that story, we visited the place and were just not that blown away by it. there used to be another all raw place down by windmill which was great, but supposedly they got bought out by the go raw folks? i have not been there to see if A) they are still in business, or B) if the food quality has stayed the same.

oh - we just found a very casual soup/sandwich place in Bellagio ( i love that hotel) it is just to the right of "Light" nightclub. they had a veggie friendly soup selection and sandwiches.
