I really enjoyed myself at the EarthSave picnic!! What a great group of interesting people. And the food....mmmmmmm!! Thanks for coming with me qetta! :lovesign:
Aww, :lovesign: back, hon!
Public service announcement: At the EarthSave picnic I met one of the founders of this group: www.defendingfarmanimals.org. They have lots of video from local (MN) slaughterhouses and factory farms. Here is one of their upcoming events:
August 7 - DFA Jam for Animals - 7th annual @ Lake Harriet Bandshell, 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Check out this new pizza place in Mpls! http://www.citypages.com/databank/25/1233/article12318.asp
and their website is www.galacticpizza.com
We should have a gathering there!

No, someone else was wondering where the Minnesota thread was. LOL
Oh, funny! We're still here. :)
I went to the Earth Save potluck last night in Minneapolis with my stepdaughter and her friend. It was cool. Dr. T was there from Ecopolitan and he was answering vegan and raw nutritional questions. He also brought along a lovely raw woman (she works at Ecopolitan) and they did a raw food demo which we all got to eat when they were done making it. It was Carob mousse pie and it was delish!
The Twin Cities Earth Save chapter is financial trouble, so I finally joined! I'd love to bring more VBers to the pot lucks. I will post when I find out where/when the next one is.
I've joined a vegetarian group from meetup.com and there is a meet up tonight at Galactic Pizza in Mpls at 7. PM me if you think you can make it! I'm working on securing a sitter.

SallyK - How was it?!
It was awesome! And we're doing it again. I hope to see more vegetarians and vegans there this time! Galactic Pizza is a great place to do this because their vegan pizza is really yummy, the atmosphere is great, and it's easy to get to.
The organizer of the Mpls group and I have agreed to merge our groups for the next meetup in October. You can click here for the St. Paul group (http://vegetarian.meetup.com/30/) or click here for the Mpls group. (http://vegetarian.meetup.com/35/) You can also PM me for more information.

There's a really awesome resturaunt that has two locations, one in Minneapolis and one in St. Paul. It's called Pizza Luce's, it's not entirely vegan/vegetarian, but they have a bunch of options-a really, really good soy cheese pizza. It's definately worth checking out!!
I was just at Pizza Luce last night - the Lyndale location. I've also been to the warehouse district location.
I had: Special Spicy Mock Sausage Hoagie* (Vegan)
your choice of bread, brushed in olive oil instead of butter, spicy mock duck bathed in
tangy red sauce, topped with onion, tomatoes and our very own 100% dairy free
rinotta uncheese (*contains nuts), served hot
And vegan banana cake with chocolate frosting!!!
Their website is www.pizzaluce.com
:lick:
Mmm. I love Pizza Luce. They have one in Duluth now as well.

They just opened a Chin's Asia Fresh restaurant in Minnetonka! I went, and it's fabulous, mainly for the reason of: when you go in, there's the big menu on the wall, kind of like at Noodles, and, also like at Noodles, the vegetarian things are so labeled! That makes me so very happy. Also, you can choose vegetables or vegetables and tofu, and you can get brown rice or white. Isn't that great? It's definitely great. So I emailed them to let them know I appreciate the vegetarian-friendliness. And I was also told that they're trying to find a vegetarian coconut curry sauce, as their current one contains shrimp, so that will be cool.
So if you like Chinese, check it out.
Also, their website is www.chins.com, but it doesn't say which items are vegetarian on there, as far as I can see.
Ooh - thanks for sharing MnVeggie! I work in Minnetonka so I will definitely check it out.
Hi there...annoying Minnesota thread poster again....here to update you on the vegetarian meetup :D
It's coming up...Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm at Galactic Pizza in Minneapolis on Lyndale. This is a wonderful event that is not to be missed if you want to meet other cool veggies in the Twin Cities. I will be there, and if I'm not mistaken, so will qetta.
There are way too many Veggieboarders in the Twin Cities that I am dying to meet, so this would be the perfect time!

That sounds nifty. But I'm deathly afraid of large groups. And by "large group," I mean more than 3 people. Can you tell us a little more about the atmosphere? Do we have to stand up and embarra--I mean introduce ourselves? Is it more of a large free-for-all?

i live in ramsey and we have an somewhat ok natural foods section in elk river (coborns). the bulk is very affordable, but the other things especially the organic produce runs kind of expensive. i can drive 10 min farther away and go to the anoka co op. has anyone been there and are the prices good? i am bordering on eating "i tal". so fresh preferably organic produce is kind of important. any help would be appriciated thanks

I will totally be there. And MnVeggie, I'm a recovering shy person so if you want to hang by me, I'll understand and "protect" you. :D

Last month there were just 5 of us at the meetup. No one had to stand up and introduce themselves. We just sit down at Galactic Pizza, order some food and gab. I'd have to say that the other people (except me) are introverts.
Qetta is by far the nicest person you could ever meet, so she'd do a good job of protecting you :D
ETA: I think we're expecting quite a few more at this next meetup....

I would love to go, I've wanted to check that place out since first hearing about it a few months back. I may have to work, though. My work shedule comes out every Friday, so I won't know if I'll be able to go until this Friday. I'll let y'all know!
Yay stellar!! I'm glad you're considering it :P We can compare nipple piercings...
Even if you can't make it for dinner, there's a place across the street called Herkimers (sp?) which is the unofficial after-dinner-get-a-beer spot.
