So were you there? I didn't see you. You probably saw me, or heard me rather, I was the one who asked him the question about the Great Ape Project.
I was there! I heard your question but I don't remember glancing up to see who was asking it. I was getting a bit restless by that time.

I heard that there was somewhere around 1500 people there, and they had to turn away a few hundred. :boobies:

I got to meet him and shake his hand, and he signed my Animal Liberation book! :bobo:

I was also there and I also bought an Animal Liberation book and he signed it! Yay!

Now I have 2 signed Peter Singer books. I saw him back in October 2004 at the Freedom From Religion Foundation conference in Madison, Wisconsin. I bought his book Writings on an Ethical Life, which is pretty much a collection of his major contributions. Very powerful. I enjoyed his speech at the Minnesota lecture and I was familiar with his points, but I'm afraid they didn't sound as strong as they sound in his book and may have just left omnivores confused or even more strong in their positions. Hm.

I live in Minneapolis now and attend the U, I'd love to do more stuff with you guys and get to know the vegetarian community here in Mpls/St.Paul better!!

What neighborhood(s)?
East Isles. After looking at a map- maybe that would be considered west Minneapolis? Oh well.

As in Lake of the Isles? If so, you're somewhat near where I used to live in Uptown (Wedge).

I am not, sadly. And unfortunately I won't be able to make the KFC demo after the conference on Sunday either. :( Wish I could be there.

Yeah, kind of. I'm actually closer to to the Lakes than I am to the Wedge, though. I'm about 2 or 3 blocks from the Uptown theater and a block from Lake of the Isles. The Wedge is within biking distance, though! I'm a member there and go there often.

Unfortunately I'm scheduled to work a double today and won't be around to go to the conference. The weekends are always way too busy for me to do much of anything aside from work.

Hi, everyone. :)

My name is Brett; I live just west of Uptown, close to Whole Foods and Excelsior & Grand and have lived here since I moved from South Dakota just a few months ago.

I am wondering if anyone here is looking or knows someone who is looking for a place to live? I need a roommate to share my 2-bedroom apartment, and I would love to live with another vegan or vegetarian person. :)

Trader Joe's is coming!

On Excelsior in St. Louis Park. Apparently it will open in mid-May.

I'm so excited!!! I've been to a few of them in the Chicago area- they're great stores and they're nicely priced. Weeee.

:vebo::vebo: I've always been a teeny bit jealous of VBers who live near a Trader Joes. Now I won't have to be. :p

I wish that I would have heard about the expo before this week! Unfortunately I'm scheduled to work and it's too late to get it off.

Yep, and I live right by Trader Joe's!

Too bad I can't stay here. Couldn't find a roommate. Anyone know of someone looking for a roommate where I could move?
