Are there any good Indian restaurants in Lansing? I've been dying for some Indian food.

I can't parallel park, though, so it'd have to be a place that has parking.

I doubt I could come, but it sounds fun :)

The Taj in Lansing and India Palace in East Lansing are both good Indian restaraunts. And both have non-parallel parking :)

Depends on the date. I'm pretty busy in Nov.

I'm open to pushing it back or whatever. Just no after Dec. 17th because thats when I go home for Christmas break!

Where are those places in Lansing? :) I actually live in East Lansing, where MSU is, so I'll have to take the bus downtown or something.

The India Palace is on Albert street (its at the base of the parking garage behind Barnes and Noble). If you know where the CVS is on the corner of MAC and Albert, it's a few storefronts away from it. The Taj is a bit harder to get to from campus, its on Saginaw near 127.
Since I live in EL, I think the other people who are coming from farther away should pick the date that's convienent for them. I can usually adjust my schedule pretty easily.

Ah, I am in walking/riding distance to the India Palace then. The other place I'm not sure about but I could probably locate it on MapQuest.

HI,
Marz here from Warren, MI. I am a 23 year old college student and I have been an animal rights activist for over 4 years and I am the organizer for a michigan based group known as Michigan Animal Rights Meetup. The site is http://www.animalrights.meetup.com/4/. We hold meeting once a month on a location voted on by members. We together discuss ways to help improve animal cruelty issues such as setting up protests/demos and leafletting events.

Lunch or dinner?

I have a question that has nothing to do with this. Where in GR can you get a decent falafel wrap? Back in RI there was a place that sold the best falafel wraps ever and I haven't had one that good since. Heh.. one time I even put off having sex for an hour because I wanted to go get one.

Oh yeah.. Meijer has the Tamarind Tree Channa Dal Masala meals on sale for only 1.99. They're usually 3.99. I'm guessing it's on sale at all the stores.. I got them at the GR East Beltline store.

"I know, I know"

There are 2 pretty good places for falafel. My fave is Eastern Deli (on Eastern, just south of Burton, next to the post office). It's kinda grungy, so you get a bit of atmosphere. I swear, the last time I was in there, I'm talking to the guy making my wrap and there are these two old Pakistani men drinking beer and watching (spanish-language) telenovelas. :D Plus, it's like 5 doors down from the health food store.

There's another good place called the Pita House. It's on Wealthy - I can't remember the cross-street for sure, but it's right down in Eastown. The clientele's a bit yuppier (East GR vs. Eastern Deli's location in the "hood"), but the food's good. They do usually have a lot of dead animals kinda hanging around/displayed, which grosses me out a bit.

Also, I vote for dinner, but I'm open for either one.

I wish I could meet up with you fine folks, but I can't go to a place so far away with my son in the car.

Next time you meet, if you meet in the Ann Arbor/Saline area, my wife, son, and I will be glad to join you. There are a few 100% veggie restaurants in the area, and several more that are very Vegan friendly.

Let me know if you plan on having a meeting around here soon.

I went to the Pita House on 28th.. the falafel there has a really bad aftertaste. Really bad.. I feel ill even thinking about it.

I'll try Eastern Deli sometime this weekend. :) Thanks.

xrodolfox - My little nephew used to get really fussy on car rides. I thought he was the only one. :)

I live right outside of Grand Rapids and work in downtown GR. Didn't know there were so many vegetarians in such a super-conservative city :smoke:
I would be down for meeting you guys/girls for dinner sometime downtown.

Forgot to post this here...

Thought I'd post this in some of the surrounding states in case anyone was interested. Some of us are meeting in Chicago for dinner and mayhem on Friday November 19th.

Oh I can't make it then. Lansing is a bit far away and I'll be in St. Joseph Saturday anyways :( . If you ever meet up near Grand Rapids let me know.
