I'm in Maryland...Baltimore. I'm definitely trying to meet more vegans/vegetarians in the area, any ideas? Anyone out there?

Hm.. I could tell you more about stuff going on in the DC area. Baltimore is out of my range!

Isn't CP closer to Baltimore than to DC? Easier to drive to, for sure...

Closer to DC, distance-wise. And metro-accessible. I tend to be hell on the highway and avoid driving to Baltimore.

Besides, Baltimore smells. ;)

I totallily forgot that CP had a Metro stop. Der.

Baltimore smells, but what's worse to live in - the smell of industrial waste or the smell of political poo?

CharityAJO

I'll take political poo over gonorhea and flying debris anyday.

Max Power

Hehe... But what about when the "debris" is "bullets" and the "gonorhea" is "the vacuous emptiness of a city completely void of character and soul" ?

Hey now! DC has soul. It's not flamboyant like New Orleans or LA, but it definetely has a distinctive feel to it. There's something very warm going on. I don't know, I'm loyal to DC. I like fending for my life. I'm used to it. I'd get bored without gunshots and empty neighborhoods.

I don't know how you got me attacking DC ;) because I actually do like DC for the most part. It's not a city - more like a tightly-knitted group of 'hoods around a federal center. Sure, some of those 'hoods are empty or filled with scum, but some are also Adams Morgan, U Street/Cardoza, Dupont, and so on. Those rock.

I do prefer real cities, though. with tall buildings... distinctive downtown districts... a feeling of local culture and personality. DC is too transient to have that going on.

I'm in Baltimore City. Yah, it's got smells for sure like Domino Sugar Refinery - nothing smells quite like caramelized sugar in the morning, then there's the GAF asphalt shingle plant across the harbor that sends that lovely odor over my way around dinner time. But you gotta love a neighborhood full of people that have been here for 40 years, that wave when you drive down the street or say hi if you're out walking the dogs. Let's not forget the sounds of kids running for the soft serve ice cream truck that comes around every evening at 7:30. I did several years in Annapolis and around Annapolis, and I did a little time in PG County. Every place has it low points...

I'm in Harford County, out past Bel Air (about 20 minutes NE of Baltimore, up I-95).

And yes, Ballmer smells, but I love it anyway, hon.

Hehe... "hon" :D I miss that. I used to go to Jimmy's in Fells Point for Sunday brunch and buy lotto tickets from a lady who always asked "ya win anythin' hon?" and it made my week :D

Speaking of "Hons." There's an official "HON FEST" this coming weekend 6/14/03 up in Hampden. They're advertising a tent where you can get yer beehive hairdo, sparkle eyeshadow, and cat eye glasses!

Max Power

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! Hampden, eh? I suppose one would need hair in order to get a beehive hairdo... I wonder what the official foodstuff will be? Perhaps, pit beef sandwiches and Yeungling???

firebird_81

Yuengling? Nah hon, it's Natty Bo, steamed crabs, and corn dogs. And me without my Lee Press-On Nails, or an El Camino.

Actually, they've got crab cakes, and other local fare....I think they're even havin' SPAM Bowlin' Hon...to honor that local born tradition of Duckpin Bowlin'.

Goin' down da bowlin' alley 'fore I head down da oshun hon and knock back a few natty bo's and talk 'bout 'dem "O's". Gotta be careful tho don't wanna get caught by the pOlice or end up in a wreck and have to take a ride in the amblance....

DAMN, I love this little city!

Balmer sure is unique. I miss it. I used to live at Pratt and Green Street. I miss the Yard. I miss the 8x10. I miss Good Love. I miss Mount Vernon. I miss Sunday brunch at Mothers during football season!!!
