Hey, that's 44 minutes away from me. That might be doable.

Have you ever been to Clarksville? I'm assuming it's just a small city/big town.

No, I've never been there. When I go to Maryland, I usually go to Rockville and I've been to Frederick. I was searching for some local veg*n events this morning and came across this ad to support the vegetarian society. I just wanted to find some kind of group activity in the greater region. I am usually willing to drive an hour which would take me to MD, DC, or VA.

So great, that's 2 for Sunday Brunch. Anyone else? This place advertises that they have organic wines and beers as well as vegan fruit smoothies :lick:

Great Sage the restaurant I'm talking about us having Sunday Brunch at seems to be right next to a natural foods market that looks interesting
called Roots Market http://www.rootsmkt.com/index.php
and a housewares type of store called Nest http://nestnaturalhome.com/ which says all of their products are either Organic, Recycled, Environmentally Friendly, Fair Trade, Hand Made or support a healthy lifestyle.

Could make for an interesting excursion. If we really like it, maybe we'll make it a once a month trip.

Great Sage is a wonderful restaurant. The prices are a bit high, but the food is excellent and mostly vegan, and everything on the menu is clearly labeled. http://www.great-sage.com/

Clarksville is actually a fairly rural area, but Great Sage is very easy to get to right off of Route 32. And yes, when you're there, you should absolutely take advantage of Roots Market next door. Think of it as a smaller version of Whole Foods or very similar to My Organic Market (for those who live near one of those).

All that said, I am up for the brunch, but I'm not yet sure if I'll be around that weekend. I'll check in again closer to the date.

FWIW, there's a good Indian Vegetarian restaurant in Gaithersburg that I used to frequent when I lived there several years ago. I've forgotten the name, but you can find it on the web if you're in the mood for Indian one of these days. :vebo:

I've been there. No singles there. All families and couples. I checked. They have Tofutti fruit "ice cream". Very good. I got the berry last time.

I ate at Great Sage once and the food is very tasty but yeah, a bit on the pricey side. Worth it though. Plenty of vegan items to choose from which is nice. I would love to join you all on the 22nd but most likely I'll be out of town that weekend. Maybe another time.

I agree that the Vegetable Garden has yummy food. There's also Yuan Fu further up the pike but I haven't been there yet. I'd imagine it's pretty similar.

I recently moved to Gaithersburg and am looking forward to exploring what sort of vegan eats I can find there. I heard somewhere there's a sushi place with a good vegan selection that I'm anxious to try.

AWW. Rani, sorry you can't make it. You can choose the date for the next one!! How about that?

This one is set for January 22nd only because, that's the day 10% of the proceeds go to the Vegetarian Society.

I don't even belong, but I thought this would be a nice way to help out.

Definitely check out Madras Palace, a great vegetarian Indian restaurant located close to the 124/117 intersection. The weekend buffet rocks.

It's supposed to be 48 and sunny on Sun-day for our Brunch.

Anyone more clear on their plans?

DCVeg?

Elena99?

Can you guys make it?

Anyone else interested?

I should be able to make it, UNLESS my husband happens to have an interview on that day. He doesn't drive, so I would have to take him. But considering it's a Sunday, there's only a very small chance that he's going to have an interview then.

Great, I'm looking forward to it. Brunch is served from 11:30 am - 3 pm

When do you want to meet?

Ok, I think I'm in too, but like E99, there is one potential complication that won't be settled until Saturday. Let's go ahead and make plans(noon?) and have everyone check in again Saturday afternoon.

I hate to do this again, but I can't go. Sorry about that. I think I'm going to stop considering going to these things until my life actually has something resembling order.

Well that's a shame. It won't stop us from asking you to go though.

So it's brunch Sunday Jan 22nd noon in Clarksville, MD at Great Sage http://www.great-sage.com

Elena, lame. But I had better be careful up here in my glass house. I still have that potential work complication for Sunday, and it's about a 50/50 shot now. TV14, be sure to check back in here Saturday afternoon for an update.

Okay DCVeg and I were the only ones with guts enough to go out to brunch!!!

We both proved that neither one of us are axe murderers... so there had better be a larger turn out next time. :notvegan: :notvegan:

We had a really good brunch conversation with pleasant atmosphere. They had 3 vegan breakfast entrees: tofu scramble, huevos ranchero, or waffles.
I know they mentioned a vegan soup(eggplant, lentil * I think*) but I didn't really focus on the lunch entrees.

There were mimosas and screwdrivers and a YUMMY Rice cream vegan hot fudge sundae!! :lick:

Roots Market is a large organic grocery store. They carry the elusive Vegan Gourmet mozzerella from Follow Your Heart, the Tofutti cream cheese, premade vegan sandwiches, organic nuts, tofu & spinach vegan tortellini, all kinds of Seventh Generation cleaning products and recycled paper goods, J/A/S/O/N beauty products, etc....

Next time I make it that way I'm putting a cooler in my car full of ice to transport the refrigerated and frozen goods. :D

Also Yahoo said this place was 1 hour and 45 minutes from my house, but I drove only 5 miles above the speed limit and it was 1 hour and 10 minutes. That's a big difference. All in all a good day!!!

And YOU missed it!! :nana: :nana:

That's right, Elena; you missed a good time with good food. We're not ones to seek vengeance, but since you couldn't make it, we had Great Sage send the bill to your home. Just wanted to make sure you can identify the mysterious charge on your next Visa bill......

Okay, a little off-topic, but does anyone know of a place in Maryland that buys second hand wedding dresses and formal wear, like prom dresses? There aren't any places like that in Westminster, and no one seems to know where they are.

I'm trying to sell my wedding dress that I never wore:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8255581828

As you can see, Ebay is failing me.
