im house sitting for my dad and i think he has a bird trapped in his chimney i have been hearing scratching noises for a while now. i tried animal control but there is no answer. I cant figure out how to get the door open on this thing. besides that i'm afraid there is a racoon or something mean in there.

Here, look up your local wildlife emergency number. Maybe they can help.

thank you snownose heres an update i finally got that door open to realize that its stuck in a pipe. i don't know how to remove pipping i called the police who refered me to public works who came over with animal control and told me they are going to try to lure it out with food, they told me they'd be back in half an hour and never came back. what good is trying to lure it out its stuck it wants out. i really don't know what to do its stuck in metal pipes attached to the furnace (i think thats what it is) any one if u know how to remove and replace pipes please :help: and tell me what to do!

ide try goig up on roof and dropping a rope down the pipe that maybe it could walk up to get out , tie something to end of rope like a wrench to make rope rigid and i believe easier for whatever it is to climb

thank you both for replying Mich it worked like a charm! i put a vacum cleaner cord down it and let it sit for awhile and i still heard scratching. so i went and gave it a little tug and felt weight on it. well i pulled it up and something came flying out! i screamed and ran! it was a little chickadee. poor thing was terrified. i caught it and looked it over it was fine i just released it outside and it flew away. thanks again i don't know what would have happened with out your suggestion.
