Hi, Matt. :D
I saw the Gardens' menu and it didn't look too impressive to me, but FR says that they are expanding. It was basically a bunch of "substitutes" and I think it's a lot of processed food.
I will never go to Abbey again, as the last time I went there, the employee was killing bugs that had gotten into the warm dessert case. Imagine what goes on behind the customer's eyes. Plus, I noticed that the same person who takes your money also makes your food, and they're back there pretty quickly, almost too quickly for a substantial handwash.

Ewww, no more Abbey for me. Georgetown Market makes Abbey's dessert look like crap anyway. I have found that Georgetown carries about 10 store made vegan desserts on any given day (for those who like dessert like me) most of which are very good (try their almond butter bar and vegan coffee cake). Wild oats has some very good vegan cookies (the white chocolate macadamia nut vegan cookie) and an awesome vegan carrot muffin they make in their bakery.
Matt, I have read about that Thai restaurant and how they have a lot of vegan items there. I'm concerned if they prepare their vegan items separately.

That tiramisu I had from Abbey was awesome, though. :(
I seriously wanted to puke when that guy did that. I don't care how good and convenient their falafel is.

I had their vegan sweet potato pie. I'd never had sweet potato pie before and it was soooooooooo good. If I lived closer to that side of town I'd go there more.

I think they leave off the calories/nutritional information for a reason.
Oh, but they do sell Oatscreme at Georgetown Market! Have you ever had that, Mattd? :lick: Of course it's better than puscream but also even tastier than soy ice cream! 120 calories per 1/2 c., I think.
Hey IN folks. Just stopping in to see if anyone is interested in meeting up on the weekend of September 18th/19th. kpickell and I are going to head to Michigan's Adventure (small but fun theme park) - others are welcome to join us for the park and/or dinner (probably in Grand Rapids).
If you're interested, please post whether Saturday or Sunday works out best for you. Any other suggestions welcome too.

Thought I'd post this in some of the surrounding states in case anyone was interested. Some of us are meeting in Chicago for dinner and mayhem on Friday November 19th.

Yet another "not too far from Indiana" (it's the crossroads of America after all :D) meetup: http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=28713
If you're interested, we've got folks carpooling from Illinois/Indiana, so we'd probably be able to offer a ride.

The last post was in 2003?
Oh--well--we'll take a chance..we are contemplating moving to Bloomington from Arizona this Summer (2005)--we would like to find some good accurate information on the area--cool places to live (affordable)-etc. We are organic gardeners and usually eat out of our gardens when weather permits..also shop at local co-ops for in-between's.
MammaMoon will be teaching and I will be managing our Online store and probably kick around and find a marketplace to sell our groovy stuff.
Please write us at:

Hey Folks,
We may be relocating to Bloomington this Summer(2005)--and would like to communicate with folks in Bloomington or that area about 'what's going on there'...we know there's a University--we know there's a Co-op-BloomingFoods...we know there is Needmore Commune and their events...that's about it.
You know weather--humidity--cool things to do--places to get lost in, the people, coffee shops, vegie restaurants, community gardens...good places to live...
It would be nice to know folks there--if we end up going. :)
MammaMoon is going to teach at a Waldorf school and I will bring our Online store and piercing tools with us..just flow in a new place.. start another organic garden and try to avoid the 'anger and chaos' of this country.
You can write us--Instead of posting reply's at: (theyt won't let us post email addresses here--guess you have to click on my avatar...10 posts--uhhh--well-okay--next weekend I guess--I'll send vegie recipes)
Peace

Hellllllllllllooo Vegiana's or Indytarian's!
Nice to see I'm not the only veg. here in farmland. I moved here about 3 1/2yrs. ago from Michigan. Whew! thought I was the only one. None of my friends are veg and not very supportive either. I met one veg who works at Nature's Cupboard in Greenwood. Other than that It's kinda loooooooooonely. Any hooten. Not much in the way of veg restaurants here but I'm up for a get together.
Meet Truffles to the left <---------. Picked her up off a slaughter truck on 69. She is my inspiration for veganism. Her story is in the Introductory Thread under "A Star Is Freed".
So let me know when and where to meet. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Can anyone tell me how it is in Merrillville/Crown Point IN? I will be moving there in 2 weeks and was just wondering how it is there.
I currently live in Chicago and I will be commuting back and forth from IN to work.
I visit family out there all of the time, Crown Point is alright. I'm not sure where you will be working, there isn't much there.... some stores and such. They have crappy chinese food in the square, so don't bother. Also they have the 'fairgrounds' where they usually hold fairs and stuff.

Thanxs Annie! she literally is becoming a star. After I rescued her she stayed with some friends in Noblesville and from there she found a home at Farm Sanctuary in New York. She is very photogenetic. Truffles will be a part of a new ad campaign and her story will be featured for the second time in another magazine. It's amazing how things kinda snowballed. The ad will be her mug with the question "look into my eyes and tell me I'm tasty" Can't wait to get a copy.

I'm a new Hoosier myself (at IUB's School of Music), so I thought I'd see what other Indianers were lurking about on everyone's favorite message board. :)

Another 'Indianer' here... we're not just lurking about on everyone's favorite message board, we're infiltrating the Hoosier landscape. Today I found pita and hummus at a tavern of all places. :nana:

Did that happen to be Mad Anthony's Munchie Emporium? If so, which one?
