Whenever I see people having discussions about what's vegan, and where to eat, I ALWAYS post that link! I love it. (You do need to add Hacienda! And give props to a server in Warsaw *Tray? I think?* who did A LOT of leg work to find out what could be veganised for us! ~ Apparantly most of the menu. He got a 50% tip!)

I always loved Hacienda's chips and salsa when I lived in the Elkhart area.

Well I ended up going to a great Italian resturant and ordered a great pasta without meat. :)

I think at Hacienda, I ended up having a vegan black bean quesadilla smothered in lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and extra salsa. They made one for me at the Hacienda at Jefferson Pointe Mall, too. You just have to ask! The only thing I DON'T like is the huge mounted head on the walls. Kind of creeeeeeepy!

If you live in West Edge's Park, I have a friend that lives out there. On one of the streets named with a *last name sounding name*...Like either Franklin or Peterson....something like that. It's the one that is kind of straight back (sort of deep) behind Auto Zone.

I saw on another part in this thread a list of veggie/vegan friendly restaurants. the page said that Rockit's pizza had vegan soy cheese, is that true? I thought the only soy cheese they had was the stuff with casien in it.

I don't know Matt. I do know that Udipi is a lacto-vegetarian spot that has a whole lot of vegan items. There is another Indian restaurant right next door to it that is lacto-vegetarian (the name escapes me). On the near north side there is a cafe called Garden's Cafe that is mostly vegan. Those are the only three that I know of. I have been to all three with Udipi being the best of the three.

Yeah, I think you're talking about the Chaat House (the one next to Udupi). It's basically Indian fast food, and they're very helpful when it comes to what is vegan friendly in the house.

What was your take on the Garden Cafe? I've heard mostly bad reviews of it. My brother told me that the menu looks to be mostly gardenburger items that you can buy frozen at any health food store. I've never been able to go cause they have horrible hours (I think they close by 4pm).

Well as far as Gardens, I did have their mock chicken sandwhich and it was the vegan garden burger chicken cutlet. So, the next time I went in, I had their tabouli which was actually very good the way they present it. They told me as they grow they will expand their hours and provide more items. They are open from 11am-4pm, Monday-Friday.

Who are you? You should consider registering here.

sorry, that was me. i forgot to log in.

Hopefully i'll get a chance to at Gardens, i'd like to form my own opinion about them. Have you ever eaten at the Thia House? I think thats the name, it's at 82nd and Allisonville in the same shopping center as Trader Joes. It's probably my favorite Thai place in Indy. They've got this really good vegan coconut icecream. It's by far the best ice cream I've ever had (and I'm including dairy ice cream from back before I was vegan).
