I thought you weren't going to be there!!!

I mentioned to jj1 recently that the potential existed for me to not be there, as my office is moving to another location. The move has been scheduled to take place the last weekend in April, but rumor had it that the date might be pushed forward a week or so. I was told today that we're on target, so I'll definitely be at the meetup!

If you two don't show up, I'm comin' to git ya! :notvegan:

Well, i've already got a pair of handcuffs ready to dust off and be put into action, so it's a date, Carnelian!

Actually, Michael, it's the July meetup that Tricia and I can't make it. Our dear grandmother, who is the sweetest woman to ever grace god's green earth, turns 90 this year on July 1st. Needless to say, we shan't be missing that.

But May and June are a go for moi. :guitar:

When are you all getting together for a Cub's game?

Holy crap... there sure are a lot of VB-ers who live on the NW side of Chicago! :hi: Greetings from the Portage Park neighorhood!
Hehe, I went to highschool at Luther North. It's creepy, I never meet people online who live close to me. I'm from Norridge (Harlem & Montrose).

Hey guys. Any recommendations for some vegetarian-friendly restauarants in Chicago? I've been to Green Zebra for my birthday and it was fabulous....just a bit pricey though to visit frequently.

M4rko...plenty of places but there are a few nice and close to the NW side as well. Try Amitabul (vegan Korean) 6207 N Milwaukee, 773.774.0276
Huge portions, great service!

Also for raw vegan cuisine, try Cousin's Incredible Vitality 3038 W Irving Pk. Rd 773.478.6868

I had the menus for both places in my purse

m4rk0...vggiegirl gave you some great recommendations, and I'll add to them:

Chicago Diner on N. Halsted
Alice and Friends on N. Broadway
Karyn's Cooked on N. Wells
Ras Dashen on N. Broadway (the last Vegan Meetup was held there)

Since you're a member of the Vegan Meetup group now, if you attend the events, you'll learn of all kinds of places to eat, in addition to meeting some rockin' vegetarians and vegans! :guitar:

Alice & Friends is probably my favorite place so far. And I agree, vegan meetups are the way to go! I posted the link a few posts back.

I miss going to the meet ups, but there just too difficult for a far south sider and I only get one Sat off a month (this month it's for and Earth Day Fair and next month for a cousin's 50th party). I'm also in the process of getting a house. I just put an offer in on one, but I have to figure out a mortgage and get together with a company. It's all way confusing.

Hey now, I'm an American League fan through and through... (I'll definetely be going and seeing a White Sox vs Mariners game, but they don't play until September). I just recommended Cubs since that seems to be the popular team. Lord knows why.

gonna be back in chicago from may 3-9th! We're thinking of taking it pretty easy, not going out to a million fancy dinners and shopping all the time, but we wanted to hit up some museums. My bf knows of a few good ones, any recommendations? I've already been to the Art Institute :smitten: but thats it...and if theres a good exhibit going on...well its worth it to go back anyway :). Oh, and can anyone tell me about the Ukranian Village? In my search for a place to live in the fall, I found a house of vegetarians my age who are pretty much...exactly my kind of people. it's in the Ukranian Village, is that a good/bad place? I'm still familiarizing myself with the city, I know where it is in relation to hyde park, and Chinatown, Belmont, and so on...sort of. What else is around it, if anyone knows? I'm trying to figure out where it is in relation to the downtown area....

Ukrainian Village is a great neighborhood. Used to live there a few years ago. Pretty close to downtown (Immediately west of there). Good mixture of people in the area. Lots of artists, etc.

Congrats on the house...how exciting! :nana: Maybe we should have a housewarming meetup in your new home after you're settled so you don't have to worry about traveling so far! :p

Not yet. I know last year it was at a Mexican restaurant in honor of Cinco de Mayo (I couldn't go to that one), so it could be the same this year (which would be cool with me, 'cause I LOVE Mexican food! ).

Don't worry, vggiegirl...I've got all kinds of hugs saved up for you!

Hey Michael and other Bloomington residents, did you get that major storm last night? It had moved on to Galesburg and was heading your way, from what I could tell from local reports.

I thought about you all last night. Maybe it broke up before then. Hope you're all dry and have a roof today!

Sorry - I know this wasn't meetup-related.
