Chrissy and I made a nice find the other day. If you're in Central Florida you will most certainly want to check on the restaurant in Sanford, FL called the Blue Dahlia. They have a separately maintained complete vegetarian menu for lunch and dinner. We haven't actually been there yet, but we can't wait to go in a couple weeks... It's just great to find a restaurant that makes a significant effort to cater to the veg* diet.

Hello all! I am originally from Orlando, though I live in Chicago now. But I wanted to let you all know that this dinner attraction, Arabian Nights, in Orlando, now has vegan meals. They even have "vegan" on the menu, which always makes me happy (though I don't think they have dessert yet). It is a great pasta dish, made with whole wheat pasta. Yay!

I'm in the South Florida and Palm Beach County groups. I've been to dinner with the Palm Beach County group twice now. I went to one event with the South Florida group in Broward County, but I was recovering from being sick at the time, so I didn't stay long and didn't really have a chance to get to know anyone.

I also joined the Orlando group at one point just to ask for advice about where to eat while in that area on vacation. They were very friendly and helpful.

NutritionSmart on Dale Mabry is a pretty decent store.
Wild Oats is good.


Restaurants:

Udipi on Dale Mabry is a vegetarian Indian restaurant. Though being Indian there is a lot of dairy used, so if you're vegan you should definitely ask questions.

Trang Viet Cuisine on Flower is not a strictly vegetarian restaurant but it does have several pages of vegetarian options including a vegan "cheesecake" that is divine!

Sweet Tomatoes - Good for a quick but big salad. Sadly, though, they rarely have vegetarian soups.

Pita's (at least it used to be called Pita's I think they changed their name) on Dale Mabry isn't 100% veg, but they do have good wraps and tasty hummus and falafel.

Anyone have any restaurant recommendations around Vero Beach or near there?

A friend of mine and his wife are flying down from New York to visit his parents in Orlando this week for the holidays. I live down in Palm Beach County, about 3 hours drive south of Orlando. So we were thinking of getting together next weekend for dinner somewhere around halfway in between, which would put us around the Vero Beach area.

They're omnis, so I don't know if they'd like a "veg only" restaurant, even if I could find one. I'm mostly just looking for something veg friendly for me. I mentioned that most Chinese places are veg friendly, and they thought that sounded good, so we just need to find one in that area. Or if anyone has any other recommendations besides, Chinese, that would be good, too.

Hi There,
I am also in the Tampa area.
Grassroots on Florida ave and Kalesia on Fletcher ave. are both 100% vegetarian.

Some years ago I opened vegetarian eateries and bakeries.
Lately I have been strongly feeling the need to do so again and promote good vegetarian eating.
So, maybe another place will pop up in Tampa someday

Fly in downtown Tampa on Franklin has good fries and falafel, also Nature's Harvest on Cypress and MacDill is a nice little grocery. Chuck's Natural Foods in Temple Terrace and Brandon is nice, too. I am a Tampa Girl, through and through. If you need any more help let me know.
