from what i gathered, it doesn't seem like there are any VBers from colorado. but hey, can't hurt to make sure i guess..
i'll be moving to boulder the beginning of next month. i'm not going to know anyone there except for this one guy i've never even met. so if there's anyone from the area out there, drop me a line, i'd love to meet up :)

We lived in Broomfield, CO for nearly 4 years. Boulder is great.
Expensive, though.

well, i can't imagine it being more expensive than new jersey...
why'd you move from CO anyway?

oh, sorry :/ how about we pretend i didn't ask that question..
so what places do i have to be sure to check out? do you know any good health food stores in the area?
I've lived in Boulder before, and was there this past Christmas holiday. They've got a few veg-friendly restaurants, and great Whole Foods Market right in the middle of town.

I'm in Colorado, and to quote a classic movie (which one?):
"I thought I was the only one!"
"But I thought I was the only one!"
I'm south of Boulder in Denver, but it's not too far from here. Anyone know of any groups/organizations?

hey good to know, epski. although some people seem to have a problem with whole foods? i've never seen one around here.
and good question essello, i'd be interested in knowing myself.
I wouldn't worry about Whole Foods all that much. If you can find better places than that to shop in Boulder, more power to you, but otherwise, that's a great place to start. I wish I could remember the name of that cool restaurant on Pearl Street that was so veg-friendly.
I think I saw it listed at one of those travel-related veg sites, like The Happy Cow, or whatever. Check 'em out.

Sorry, stonecrest...but I had a toddler and an infant while living in CO. (I was a pretty big homebody and I wasn't a vegan yet) Yet, there is a vegan society, lots of vegetarians and vegans...esp in Boulder. I don't think it's going to be a challenge for you. (*jealous*)
Pearl Street mall is great and if you need to buy a neat toy for someone...check out Grand Rabbits. Have fun in Boulder...
Also, the Mayan movie theater in denver is nice for a special movie...I saw Sense and Sensability there when it came out.
Hi! I'm from the UK but have spent some time in Boulder and it is my favourite place! I love everything about the place....great vegetarian food, no smoking, great people, great air and amazing mountains!!!! Not forgetting the Denver Broncos!! :) :)
Great places to eat in Boulder and Pearl street is great. So many options for vegetarian food. I so wish I was there right now!
Hey there, I am from Fort Collins, CO.
So Funkified, you were disappointed by my town? Well I do not blame you. We've got a great Vitamin Cottage here and Wild Oats Market and the Rainbow Restaurant that serves lots of veg food. But other than that, it's not as Veg friendly as Boulder. We've also got a variety of thrift shops to choose from.
And for those of you in Boulder, I would recommend that you shop at the Vitamin Cottage there (I work at the one in Fort Collins and the prices are less. Plus a friend of mine who worked at Wild Oats said they failed health inspections twice in the time he was there and that they are generally not very nice to employees). Not to bad mouth them or anything..... still a nice store.
And on The Hill in Boulder is a great sub shop with vegan and vege subs galore, go there, it is called Half Fast Subs. There's also great music venues up there and CD Stores (The Fox, Tulagi, Wax Trax, and Albums on the Hill). I spend a lot of time in Boulder because I love the activism here, not too much up here in the Fort. But as far as living goes, I find it a nicer atmosphere here and much MUCH cheaper living. Plus I go to Colorado State University and it's an excellent school.
So Stonecrest, why will you be moving to Boulder?
I like the atmosphere of Boulder. When I moved to Boulder from L.A., I thought the rent was an improvement, but I can see how anyone from a more reasonable town would think it was expensive!
Fort Collins is the source of Fat Tire beer and, for that, it should be considered a national landmark or something.

i'm moving to Boulder because i will be attending CU for grad school. i'm also doing an internship at NREL in Golden. i thought about commuting for a while and then finally decided that a 1800 mile commute might be a bit too far :)
i've also been looking at a few apartments (well, looking online since i'm not there yet) and i suppose it might seem expensive but wow, these apartments are so much cheaper than new jersey! heh. anyway, i'm absolutely so excited to be moving to an environmentally friendly and nature oriented town, i really think it's my kind of place. hopefully i'm not getting my expectations up too high!
i'm not exactly sure where fort collins is yet or what it's like but my brother gave me a book about colorado just today so i'll be reading up on it before i come out. hopefully i won't stand out too much as a jersey guy :D

I don't know much about Boulder restaurant details. Sorry, it's been a few years since I've been there. I'm overdue to visit.

i dont know if that's the restaurant they were referring to but i just to the Sunflower last night with my parents for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. and it's actually yam butter, not carrot butter ;)
I will have to try that Sunflower place again as I didn't like it when I went there. The reason being was that I ordered something and it tasted really fishy and it grossed me out. The waitress was cool about it though and gave me another meal. Do they only serve vegetarian food there StoneCrest? I can't remember.

no they don't only serve vegetarian food, there actually aren't that many vegetarian meals (i think there were maybe 4 out of 15 total?). but all of their vegetarian meals are vegan if you ask for no cheese. and we all enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere was great, and the people were very friendly.
Thanks Stonecrest. I will give it another go when I'm there again.

I lived in boulder for 3 years while going to CU. i just graduated last spring and moved to denver. Stoncrest - hopefully i'll see you around campus next fall. I'm applying for law school there. Just taking a year off enjoying downtown denver and living in the Parkway, if you know where that is. boulder's a great place to go to college, but i kinda had to get out of there once i graduated.
Essello - i dont know of any groups, but i would definitely be interested if you've found anything out.

hey orangutan! glad to hear you haven't left us for good :) anyway, i'm actually planning on starting a vegetarian club at CU, i just today got the paperwork to start a student organization. i'm pretty nervous about it but hopefully i'll find some other committed vegetarians that will help out. anyway, if you're at all interested once i get things off the ground, i can keep you updated if you'd like.
as far as i know, the only other organization in colorado is the vegetarian society of colorado (http://vsc.org/). i plan on contacting them soon for some advice/help.

stonecrest, definitely keep me updated. although i was never a part of them, i'm sure there are already some groups like that on campus. i do have some veggie/ veggie-ish friends that still go there, so once things get off the ground, i'll let them know.
