My business partner and I have just opened a gourmet all vegan specialty food store in Boulder!!
Our website is www.threelittlefigs.com .
We're talking vegan chocolate dipped pretzels, vegan pierogies, vegan haggis, vegan caviar, freshly made vegan donuts, vegan cheesecakes, vegan Belgian chocolates, vegan tiramisu, vegan knishes, vegan beef and been burritos, vegan white chocolate chips, vegan fluff, vegan whipping cream, vegan shrimp, vegan tuna, vegan beef strips, vegan tamales, vegan biscuits and gravy, vegan ice cream sundae fixin's, vegan "thin mints" cookies that are just like the girl scout cookies, assorted vegan cheese sprinkle blends, vegan breaded eggplant cutlets, and much more.
Our grand opening celebration will be Friday September 23rd. Stay tuned for more details on that. In the meantime, stop by, check it out, and sample some goodies!

Hubby and I will be in Denver/Golden/Breckenridge area for a week starting March 11th. Can anyone recommend any good places to get a good vegan meal? I've gotten lots of tips and hints, but, nothing for sure. The few places I know we want to try are the Watercourse and Sunflower.
Breckinridge: Rasta Pasta.....mmmmmm
Imagine carribean meets italian food...awesome!
Not to mention the place is one big tribute to Bob Marley.

Hi, Colorado folks...
I spent a week in Breckinridge/Frisco, and then a weekend in Colorado Springs. My husband grew up in the Springs (Doherty High School for those of you Springers).
I fell in love with the place! I haven't been to Boulder, but have been told be several people that it would be the perfect place for me to live. We plan to move out there in about 3 years, when I'm finished with school. I can't wait!! :)

frebird, are you looking at Colorado Springs or Manitou springs? Check out Adam's Mountain Cafe and the organic place on the west end of town (MS)

I WANT ALL OF YOU TO COME TO THE WATERCOURSE WITH ME AND DANZIG.
I've never met anyone from this site. Which is weird, seeing as I live near boulder and stuff and I'd expect to know like...everyone. or something.

I freaking love watercourse.
I second that! My husband and I got our wedding cake from the watercourse bakery.
We live in Westminster.. wish there were more vegan restaurants tho :(
Does anyone know of a vegan indian restaurant in the denver-boulder area?? preferably closer to westminster and boulder.
Any other restaurant suggestions in the area would be great... just moved here in Sept 2005.

The Aurora restaurant is a bit bigger than the Boulder restaurant; the food is about the same in both places (good). I'm sure that they can go vegan if you ask them.

Thanks for that tip. Actually, I did try Masalaa in Boulder. First time, we got take-out and absolutely loved it! Second time, we went to the restaurant to eat there but weren't very impressed.... kinda rude and the bathroom was so gross it makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is.

Yes, I only ate at the Boulder restaurant once, and much prefer the Aurora location (I lived in Aurora, which helped). The Boulder restaurant is too much like any other hole-in-the-wall ethnic restaurant.
The "Royal Thali" at the Aurora restaurant is the best meal I've ever had anywhere (and very consistent - I had it once a month for 13 months. I never even had to order - they knew what was coming). I miss it now that I'm no longer a Denverite. :flush:

Thanks for your input. We might go to the Aurora location, though it is definitely out of the way for us since we live in North Westminster.
I crave a big masala dosa :)
It says on the web site they deliver too. Hm.

I hope this isn't too off-topic... It's health-related, and Colorado.
In the news today, they passed the smoking ban. Governor Owens is expected to sign the bill and it should go into effect July 1.
I'm so excited! :-D The other day I went to Old Chicago for a veggie pizza and a 1554, and I turned around at the front door and walked out because the smoke was so bad. I'm thinking of all the places I'll be able to go to that I've been avoiding because I can't tolerate heavy smoke. It's gonna be a party-harty summer :hamster:

heabrook, have you ever been to sherpa's restaurant in boulder? It is located at 825 Walnut St. in Boulder and they have Indian, Tibetan, and Nepali dishes. There are many vegan or vegetarian and easily veganizable dishes on the menu, and the food is delicious. It's located in a gorgeous old victorian house, and has wonderful outdoor patio seating in warm weather. It's one of my favorite places to go in Boulder. The staff is really nice and they are truly happy to accomodate vegans. The Sherpa's vegetable stew with dumplings is warming and delicious. They'll make you a dairy-free saag with tofu and/or potatoes. The vegetable momos and lentil soup are delicious. etc. Just be sure to tell them no dairy and they will make up special bread for you and see that all your food is prepared how you want it.
They don't have dosa and things like that (south Indian stuff), but it's still a great place to go for a nice relaxing meal. Great atmosphere.
Oh, and if you ever get out to Nederland, definitely check out Katmandu!

Katmandu WILL veganize dishes.
yummy stuff. I go both ways, dairy/vegan (It's my last hold out: vegan raita that tastes REAL, anyone?) So i'm one picky ****h.
My review of Masaala is: "You didn't order that!" All three times I've been there (1 Boulder, 2 Aurora)
rude, but gawd the food is good. Maybe as takeout: which so loses the ambience, even at a hole in the wall.
for fast food, I hit Tokyo Joes: Boulder bowl: tofu, brown rice, veggies and pick your sauce. One of the sweeter ones is NOT veggie: has fish, I think
