I've been to Colorado once before. I visited, Colorado Springs. I thought it was beautiful ... and fun. I'm going back this December, any places you recommend visiting?

Rocky Mountain National Park if you want mountains and wildlife
Masa Verde for historical and native american stuff
Royal Gorge for a big-a*s bridge
Denver for a good time
Morrison for a concert at Red Rocks Amplitheater
And there's ski towns (although I don't particularly care for the fake atmosphere and the expensive price)
Boulder can be related to Berkly a bit
Small mountain towns, minning towns, and ghost towns
Real ranches
White water rafting (arkansas river)
Oh, and the sand dunes
Four corners region in general
Painted Canyon
Colorado National Monument (an actual canyon park, not a statue)
just to name a few places... :)

thanks ... I'm sure me and my family will have a wonderful time checking out some of the places you mentioned!
-Liz ... AIM s/n sjsammiexo17 ... im me anytimes, I am always on!
Don't forget the butterfly pavilion (off of 36 on the way to Boulder) if you like butters.
It's small but very neat.

I actually never made it there, but the museum is great, coors field, garden of the gods, there's an aquarium and rock climbing!
Merr,
I can't believe vitamin cottage is the one thing you miss. At least they have a web site to order from. :)

It's not the only thing I miss, but family sure makes it easy to stay away. I like being on my own and I like discovering different parts of our country. I've never lived where there's sidewalks before, or where they have fields of corn. It's been really cool getting to experience the other sides of life, rather than small mountain town.
I grew up in East TN (Bristol to be exact). There are some days I want to move back so badly I can taste it. I understand what you mean by being out on your own. It's nice to explore new parts of the country. I want to visit Maine sometime soon. Alaska is also on my hit list. Then there are the longer trips across the water. :)

Growing up in a small mountain town is something I'll carry in my heart always. But I've been destined for bigger stages for as long as I can remember. I need to be able to facilitate my life with my surroundings. My friends and I spent a ton of time at each other's houses because there wasn't anywhere to go. Now my friends and i spend time going grocery shopping together, and getting coffee, and playing raquetball. It's amazing.
I'll forever be a Colorado Native, but I will never be truely at home where I am. I love to travel, explore, learn first hand. I'm obsessive about planning future trips that are at least 6 years off. I want to go to Eastern Europe, and get back to Ireland, and I want to live and experience our neighbors to the north. I just want to move because I was always so stationary.

Hey everybody!
I'm a vegan from NYC coming out to Denver (and Aurora) in a couple of weeks, and I wanted to give everybody the heads-up about an awesome event coming up. We'll have free vegan food and a great panel. Please bring your non-veg friends; this inspiring film will definitely vegetize them!
You are invited to...
A special screening of the award-winning documentary Peaceable Kingdom
Wednesday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm
Denver University
2000 E. Asbury, Sturm Hall - Classroom 451
Followed by panel Q&A session with Mark Reinhardt (Rocky Mountain Animal Defense), Stephen Billig (Vegetarian Nutrition Society of Colorado), Michelle Alley-Grubb (Peaceful Prairie Animal Santuary), and Marisa Miller (Vegan Activist w/Global Green Foundation).
Free and open to the public/Free refreshments
Peaceable Kingdom, a 70-minute documentary that is currently showing at film festivals across the country, highlights the struggles of people who have come to a point in their lives where they must follow their conscience, even though it means giving up their livelihood, their community, and all they were raised to believe and do.
It's about a fourth-generation Montana cattle rancher who experiences an epiphany during a health crisis and resolves to devote his life to undoing the damage done by his agribusiness empire. It's about a Michigan beef farmer whose childhood wounds are healed by the unexpected affection of a sanctuary cow. And it's about a young couple who stumble upon a massive injustice hidden away by the factory farming industry, and find they cannot turn away, even though they can only help one animal at a time.
An inspiring story of personal redemption, compassion, healing and hope, Peaceable Kingdom recently received the Ojai Film Festival theme award for "enriching the human spirit through film." The film had its World Premiere at Lincoln Center in Manhattan and has been selling out theaters and receiving standing ovations in major cities where it has been shown.

I loved Boulder when I lived there... I must be a yuppie and didn't know it. :( ;)
Hubby and I will be in Denver/Golden/Breckenridge area for a week starting March 11th. Can anyone recommend any good places to get a good vegan meal? I've gotten lots of tips and hints, but, nothing for sure. The few places I know we want to try are the Watercourse and Sunflower.

Also check out the Boulder CO-OP for food /groceries.
I head for Kathmandu up in Ned as they will vegan-ize what they can. Check out Mountain People's Co-Op there. Great folks.
Denver Co-op is trying to get off the ground. All vegetarian grocery store. whoo hoo!
THe WH in Highhorse Ranch (closest and no city taxes) moved all the tofu closer to the flesh. yuuummmm just what I want to smell while picking out tofu! I actually get mine at King Soopers now.
