View Full Version : California
Honestly it will be such a nice change to eat somewhere veg-friendly that I don't much care where we go. The review for Sante La Brea sounded good, but they didn't have a menu posted that I could find. The menu for RFD looks yummy. And then there's always the Wheel of Life in Irvine that Herself mentioned a while back. I'm game for any of them. :)
SLB has that private room (and we could do weekend brunch instead--their vegan pancakes are AWESOME), but I guess we should see how many people expect to join us before we base anything on numbers. Let's do a roll call:
1 and 2) epski and Mrs. epski
Herself, they do charge now and it is Sept 28. It is at the same place it was last year, which was Woodley Park in Van Nuys. It was great last year. Here is the link to the site

Mmm...pancakes. :)
Dude. They're soooo good.
Toto votes for Wheel of Life
Thanks for the WorldFest info, I'm going
Toto, are you #4 on the roll call or no?
Wheel of Life sounds good, too. But then there's the pancakes... and the RFD menu looked tasty...
Not that I'm indecisive or anything. Really, I'll happily go anywhere that doesn't take me more than hour to drive to. :)
Let's get a head count before we narrow down the options. Who can we bug via PM to "register" for this event?
Who else is there in our area? I know Herself & CaptainSwab are nearby, but I'm not sure on others.
*shrugs* I dunno. People need to check into their local thread once in a while!

I went to LA 3 years ago and wasl ustin to go back to CA forever since then. Then I went to San Francisco last month and fell in love with it there. I'm going to Berkeley after I get my Associate's--they WILL take me..or else....heh heh heh...Then I'll probably move osmewhere right outside of LA, if I haven't gotten too attached to San Francisco area. I'm in love with Millennium restaurant and the whole general atmosphere of that area...but I also love the beaches, heat and the bustle of LA. So, either way, I'm going to CA when I'm like 20 and never coming back to this little hell hole (erm...PA), I jut don't kow where I'll settle yet.

Cassie,
Well welcome to California, I'm sure your going to have a good time. You may never leave Berkeley once your there.
Check out the Central Coast too, some beautiful scenery in
Big Sur, Cambria, Santa Cruz......
What will you be studying at liberal tech?
There is a place I like to go in Cambria, here it is, check it out.
I'm from the southern part and a nomad by desire.

My husband and I can be #'s 5 and 6! :)
I'd be happy at any restaraunt as well...but if we're voting, Wheel of Life gets my vote all the way.
Woo-hoo! We're up to 6. Is this sort of an even mix between LA and OC?
i don't drive (frightened of cars) and i'm extremely shy otherwise i'd come!
and i thought i'd post also that.. well.. awhile ago i posted about plays happening at the santa monica playhouse..? well, "dear gabby: the confessions of an overachiever" is happening again, along with another show called, "Adults! Keep out!" though adults should see it..., too. they're happening the first two weeks in august, so if anyone is interested.. more info is here: http://santamonicaplayhouse.com/40thspecialevents.html
in the 'dear gabby' picture, i'm the girl in front with the red ballet skirt on, and black braids.. :)
don't let the silly pictures fool ya.. they are good shows. ;)
Icicle Your very cute in that picture! Almost makes me want to provide road side assistance.
Toto
:D
Yay! More people! :)
Ooh... there's a David Mamet play in September. I may just have to scrape up some money for that! :)
Icicle -- I'd offer you a ride, but if you're frightened of cars, you'd probably be very scared of mine! :D Cute pic, btw. :)
mskedi - don't just come see mamet! see the original stuff, see gabby! (I know, i'm pushy ;) )
thanks! even if i am in white face...!
i'm not so frightened to ride in cars, so much as to drive one myself.. i tried learning once and.. it was bad. oh well. :) but if i can figure a way, i'd love to come. :) so i guess i'm 7ish..
Yay! Seven! :) What's with this "ish" business? When we decide where we're going, I'm sure you'll be on somebody's way and we'll be able to get you there. :)

Icicle don't worry I'm painfully shy too, but Mr. Quizeen and I will attend any gathering you other SoCal folks have. Definitely.
Have any of you heard of The Spot located in Hermosa Beach? They are basically a vegan restaurant that's vegetarian friendly :), and they are reasonably priced (most meals cost about $6 to 8). Very casual, right across the street from the beach.
The Spot rules. NO credit cards, though. Major drag, that. And parking. Bring change.
