Hello, I'm from the Monterey/ Santa Cruz Area!

:hi:

Hello from over the hill Altos. I love the vegan burritos at the little taqueria across the main street from the Pacific Edge climbing gym in Santa Cruz.

I think a potluck at somebody's house (mine would be fine if I ever get off my rear and clean it up) is a nifty idea! :vebo:

The last meetup we had that I attended was at Native Foods in Westwood. I believe it was in February of 2006. There is actually a picture of us in the photo gallery. I'm the one with the goofy expression. :o The meetup prior to that was at the Real Food Daily in West Hollywood. There may be a pic of that one, too, I can't remember.

So I know vegan thai places are a dime a dozen in LA,...california vegan, vegan plate, truly a vegan restaurant, cafe vegan, vegan express, vegan glory etc etc etc. but I dont want a dime a dozen vegan thai place. I want something exceptional tonight. Im looking for a vegan friendly thai restaurant whose menu doesnt focus on faux meat. prehaps something a bit more tradational. thanks in advance.

Hmmm havent been there. I live in a small town Called Aromas, It is in between Santa Cruz and Monterey. We have a little local store that makes amazing Veggie burritos, I will have to try out the place your talking about though.

My wife and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary by going out to see Wicked at the Pantages, and we'd like to go to a nice vegan friendly restaurant nearby (or at least one that's on the way from the Inland Empire). We are going for class and quality of food and service. We'll be traveling out on the 210 or the 10 freeways. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, the Pantages is in Hollywood, so you can always try the Real Food Daily location in West Hollywood. I believe it's on La Cienega Blvd.

You must tell us what you think of Wicked. ;)

ETA: Here's the link. http://www.realfood.com/locations.htm Scroll down for the info on the West Hollywood restaurant.

I did that (Wicked/RFD) earlier this year when my daughter graduated Jr. High...it was her present! Wicked was the BEST production I have seen, even better than Rent in NYC.

Thanks for that. I think we'll go there.

We saw rent in NYC too! We went for my wife's 21st birthday. It wasn't the original cast though. It was when Joey Fatone playd Mark. We also saw Into the Woods, and Aida. Good stuff.

Anyway, I'll definitely report back about Wicked. I'm not as familiar with this one as I have been with others prior to seeing them. With Rent and Phantom I already knew the soundtrack. Now that I think of it, I enjoyed Into the Woods and Aida just fine without much prior much knowledge about them, and the during the ones I knew a lot about, I got distracted when the music wasn't like I was used to hearing.

I haven't seen a huge live musical production before, but I'd love to! I heard Wicked is awesome (my friend Roe is obsessed with it). I read the play Into the Woods and saw a tape of a live version. I LOVE ITW :)

Wicked was effing amazing. Eden Espinoza (Ephaba) was amazing. The guy that played Fiyero could be out sung by Vocal majors at CSUSB--he should not be cast in that show. He has a duet with Espinoza and she just put him to shame. The harmonies were all off and it totally ruined that moment of the show for me. Otherwise, the production, effects, choreography, blocking/transitions, musical composition/orchestration is very impressive. The perspective of the nature of good and evil is interesting and presented creatively and artistically.

RDF is awesome--the perfect choice for that night! Thank you.

Hello from the Silicon Valley.

I'm from the Bay Area. Is that too vague? Anyways, there's a great falafel place around here somewhere. To anyone who wants to look it up, it's called the Falafel Drive-In. It's very small, but quite good. You know, traditional drive-in place.

Good to see more South Bay veggies! I'm in San Jose, too.

Falafel's Drive-In is great! I need to go there again, soon.

Not too vague :) Found Falafel Drive-In. Will check it out when I'm not too picky!

:hi: Hello rvp and AquariaLion, I think that makes four of us in the bay area who'd signed in recently. I'm not sure if the Falafel drive in is the one on San Carlos (or is it Steven's Creek) in San Jose, but I've been to that one.

I've lived in the Silicon Valley area for the last 23 years and in the bay area the last 38 years. I love it here.
