Hello all, I'm here in Galt...quick, how many of you have heard of it?:D REAL small town between Elk Grove and Lodi...I love it here, everyone knows everyone else and it's a whole 2 degrees cooler than Sacramento...only 110 vs. 112 :D

I have never been to Galt but I have heard of it. I live in the Roseville area.

I've been through Galt, but I don't think I've ever stopped there. You've got some great wineries not to far from you. I love Lodi Zins.

I think I've heard of Galt. I went up to Elk Grove when my sister gave birth to my niece, Chloe, back in 2001 :)
Welcome to the VeggieBoards, btw :)

I am actually surprised that you all have heard of Galt...I mean people in Sacramento (25 min away) don't know what I'm talking about :dunce: It really is sad

Healthy Mexican food not oxymoron
http://media.www.thedailyaztec.com/media/storage/paper741/news/2007/10/11/RestaurantBarGuide/Healthy.Mexican.Food.Not.Oxymoron-3025144.shtml
Finding a Mexican restaurant in San Diego isn't hard. Finding one that has good food also isn't a challenge. But good and healthy is a challenge.
Pokez Mexican Restaurant is the perfect mix of authentic and eclectic, offering the usual Mexican fare and a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
Located on E Street in Downtown's East Village, you could easily pass up the beige restaurant on the corner. But looks can be deceiving and inside the modest walls is a great Mexican restaurant. An Aztec-inspired mural on the outside is the only indication of what lies within the walls of this haven for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

healthy mexican food? well Ranchos of course! yea they have the usual grease too, but they will gladly take care to make you meal vegan... and all the veggies are organic (they share with the ranchos vegan market next door).
There are a few locations. I know there is one in North Park on 30th just north of University.

The vegetables are NOT all organic! I wish they were! The "vegan" market isn't all vegan either, but that's another story.

Here's a good sampling of reviews from Rancho's. I won't eat there anymore, personally.

I hate the thought, but know I need to think ahead....
I may be moving out of my parents house to go off to a university. I have 5 animals... 1 dog, 1 rabbit, and 3 chinchillas. While I'll probably be able to take the chinchillas, I don't know about the rest. I'm mostly concerned with my dog... would anyone consider taking my dog if I couldn't take her with me? Consider, nothing is set in stone.

GOD how I wish we could adopt a dog! My DH is such a dog lover, but we don't have space for a dog in our lives. :( Hope it all works out, keep us updated!

If I can't find her a home, I'm just not going off to a university... she means the world to me and she's way more important to me than a damn degree. Yeah, I'm crazy in love *haha* I'm sure I can find someone to take her... I just want to make sure that she's well taken care of where ever she goes :)

About Sweet Pea: She's loving, affectionate, obedient, and pretty good with children (although she tries to be dominate, so she tries to hump sometimes... but I'm still training her). She's definately a good dog for someone without other dogs, maybe a family without kids or with kids over the age of 8. It's not that she's not good with little children, she just can't be left alone with them. She's never ever bit anyone (besides another dog, but that was over food)... no people, she ONLY licks :D

I see what you are saying, but to me it seems more important that people are getting the idea rather than perfecting it
they told me all thier stuff was organic (I worked there for an entire 6 hours)

Hey Californians! Factory farmed animals need your help!
Please visit this site and sign up to volunteer. Even if it's just a matter of asking family, friends, coworkers and random strangers to sign. We need 650,000 signatures from California voters in 5 months to get this on the ballot. We can do it!! :hamster:
http://humanecalifornia.org/
Also, I've been brainstorming to decide which ways would be the most effective, creative and fun to collect signatures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I got my packet in the mail a few days ago and no one I have asked to sign thus far has refused.
Come on, California activists, get involved!

The California fires are horrifying and show no sign of containment. I tried to post this somewhere else but I cannot find an appropriate forum. I am just sick with worry and sadness over the fires. Any good thoughts and prayers are appreciated for all Californians or anyone else impacted by these many fires.

Hey..I was just reading about the fires in the news, and couldn't find a good place to put a note either.
Is everyone okay? CA folks, show yourselves! :)

My sister teaches a music class on Sunday mornings. She was planning to stop at our parents house on the way home yesterday, but found out that the power was out at her house and there was a fire VERY close to the house, so she went straight home instead. I really should call her and see what's up.
I'm okay myself. The area where I live is rarely in danger from fires.

We were sent home at noon. The neighborhood I work in is currently being evacuated and flames are visible at some of my co-worker's homes. I live 9 miles to the west and the air is bad but we aren't in any danger.
My husband works 30 miles to the north and his company shut down at noon. 250,000 people are being evacuated in SD County.
Amy - are you in the West LA area? My dd is in Westwood. Do you know what the air quality is.

I'm in Santa Monica, pretty close to Westwood. The air quality AFAIK is normal - smoggy, but not smelly and full of ash or anything.

I'm in San Diego. There are fires to the North East and fires to the South East. The air is full of soot, ashes and it is dark. It is difficult to breathe. All the schools have been evacuated. My daughter is scared. :(

The air has been absolutely terrible here. I don't even want to leave the house. My lungs are filled with sand and smoke :( My sisters ex-hubby was evacuated from his home in Big Bear. I feel horrible for everyone who has to leave their homes. I hope their pets are safe.
Does everyone remember the fires of... I believe it was 2003? It was the worst ever. I worked at In-n-out in San Bernadino and after work, my car would be covered in ash. THAT was scary. It was gloomy and smokey for weeks.
