Updated Artivist news!

I was able to land Richard Linklater's feature film adaptation of Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation for its official red carpet premiere at the Artivist (http://artivists.org), November 10th, a week before the film's release on November 17th. Linklater, Schlosser, and some of the cast members are confirmed to walk the red carpet starting at 7:30pm, with the film scheduled to begin immediately afterward.

The ticketing page hasn't been updated yet, but you can cover your bases on that by purchasing a pass (http://artivists.org/become-a-patron) for the entire festival, which merges art and activism for global consciousness of social, environmental, and animal issues. One VIP patron pass is only $150, and includes access to all Film Screenings, Parties, Forums, Filmmaker's Brunch, Opening Night Ceremony, and the 2006 Artivist Awards Gala.

Have you been to the La Sierra Natural Foods store? It's on Pierce in Riverside. I just came back from there and it's an AMAZING store. They have the egg substitute and unflavored veg jel! I almost ordered both online when I was a vegan (I didn't want to pay for shipping, so I didn't). I bought this weird meat substitute... it's like dried meat. :P Just soak it and it turned into a meat-like product. I'm making stew with it now :)

Have you been to the La Sierra Natural Foods store?

CSUSB is good for my purposes. As of now its music doesn't have much of a name for itself but we just had major faculty changes and we might see CSUSB Music on the map more and more now.

I've never been to the Natural Foods store in La Sierra--didn't know there was one. All I knew of was the Clarke’s in Riverside and Loma Linda, and a store in Corona (which I have never been to and forgot the name).
I know of a vegan restaurant in Palm Desert called Natural Foods. My wife and I are going to try it out tomorrow.

I'm not sure what kind of connections you're looking for. As far as advice, check out http://www.vegparadise.com/ for restaurant info. To find by neighborhood (your area is near South Bay, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Artesia, Palos Verdes...). You can shop for vegan clothes at Humanitaire a bit further south in Orange County, right next to one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Native Foods.

I've been all over since high school.

I live in Banning now and love it actually. I am right on the road up to Idyllwild.

My parents house is kind of by the Peadly area. Know where that is? There is an exit off of the 60 freeway.

What is this about a vegan place in Palm Desert? I need to go check that out. My husband works in Palm Springs so I should go meet him one of these days for lunch.
