I went to the Healthy Life Expo at the Hilton in Burbank today. There were some interesting booths (Animal Acres, Vegetarian Dining Club (apparently they are still around), Vegan Vixens, etc.) but I was really excited to pick up some of Playfood's squeezable cheese. Unfortunately, they were really disorganized, so they didn't have any available for purchase, but I did get to try a grilled cheese sandwich, which was good but not great. Well, at least now I can say I've tried it...

Cinnamon Vegetarian Restaurant is now open. I stopped by but to grab a menu, but I didn't have a chance to try any of their food, so no review yet. I asked about vegan options, and they said they couldn't tell me right there, but they can look up the ingredients for anything on their menu. The reviews I've read so far have been very positive, so I'm looking forward to trying it out. I did however put up a listing on Veg Guide w/their menu:

The menu looks really good. I am assuming some of the soy protein, or wheat protein may not be vegan and of course, the cheese.
I'd like to give it a try soon!

Yes to Native Foods! That is one that I have been wanting to try! And Westwood is great for me, or whatever. If you guys really are planning on going can I request not this week, not next week or weekend, but any time after that! I haven't been to any of these get togethers yet and this would be perfect! Yummmm ;)

Well since someone is really popular with their Private Messages I couldn't leave my follow up message for you so I will leave it here! :
Sorry, I'm really stupid I just read your comment again and saw it was for tomorrow and that you're leaving at 12. I have plans for tomorrow morning of course but if you're ever in the area again let me know! ;)
Hey, SoCal VBers, I posted (http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=61871&highlight=artivist) about an upcoming film festival you all are going to want to know about (Amy posted about it back in 2005). The Artivist Film Festival runs from Nov. 9-12, so mark your calendars now, and read that post for more details. I'm heavily involved with putting it together, so I'd love to see you there, especially on the 11th, when we'll be focusing on animal issues, and when I'll be moderating a panel discussion on the true cost of meat with Howard Lyman, Daryl Hannah, and others.

I've just discovered the BEST taco shop here in San Diego (unfortunately it's way downtown so I'm not going to be able to eat there often). It's called Pokez and it's not 100% vegetarian but they have over 30 vegan items on the menu.
It's kind of a dive (but not any more of a dive than any other San Diego taco shop.) The food was delish though. I got the tofu, potato & mushroom burrito and my husband got the vegan chirizo breakfast (fake chirizo & scrambled tofu  )
It was nice having so much on the menu to choose from!

I still haven't been there (and probably won't be going any time soon, all my SD friends moved to NYC). But I've heard that it's awesome. I would always go to Ranchos when I was there.

I have a really easy recipe for amazing vegan fajitas. Those with a little homemade guacamole are probably the best "dish" I make.

There used to be a vegetarian restaurant in Escondido. I heard it was awesome but the owner retired. The sign's still there. It's very sad.
There's a place called Sipz (http://www.sipz.com) on Clairmont Mesa Blvd. It's between me and downtown off of the 15. It looks good from the website.
