I wish I had been able to go last Thursday but I suppose there is always next time! And to epski, I live in the Marina Del Rey area. Anyone near by? Anyway so it seems you guys do this restaurant thing a lot. I'm wondering though, because I'm sure most of you have tried it, how is Native Foods? I've read that it's supposed to be one of the best and is a lot of people's favorites, but like I said earlier I don't have any non-meat eating friends :( so I haven't had a chance to go there. I was just wondering if all the hype was true? Bye for now!

I live close to you, in Santa Monica. We had a meetup in February at the Native Foods in Westwood, and I personally thought it was pretty good.

Veggie and Tea House was not so bad. It looks 80% raw.
I think that One World in West Covina is by far the best.
Cheshire Cat, Native Foods is one of my favorites. Down closer your way in Culver City (raw) there's Leaf, Govinda's, India Sweets & Spices. In Venice, you've got Good Karma on the boardwalk, right across from Muscle Beach, and all the good stuff in Santa Monica, like Real Food Daily, the veggie menu at PF Changs, The Newsroom, some veg options at Swingers on Lincoln, and another place or two I'm forgetting. I'm intentionally leaving out Raw. Save your money.

To Amy, that's cool you live in SM since they have all the good stuff like epski was saying. I love Real Foods and wish I lived even closer. But that's why I need to try other places so I can see if I like them too. The only other place I've tried is Govindas and yes the veggie menu from PF Changs like you said epski. Yum to the tofu lettuce wraps! Actually there's this place in Redondo called W's China Bistro and they have a lot of veggie things that are really, really good and I actually prefer it to PF Changs except the lettuce wraps, but the ones there are good too. So are you guys meeting again this Sunday still? I want to come some time but of course I won't be here this Sunday. Oh well they'll be plenty of other times. Anyway, so epski you have a little problem with someone blond and tan who serves expensive raw food? I've actually never been so I'll take your word. Hmmmmm....

I think the plan was Veggie Life. I've been there a couple dozen times, and it's fantastic.

Can we do this later. I won't be able to get out of work until 6pm. How about 7?
PS - Yes, let's please stick with the restaurant choice.

I have nothing against blond tan raw chefs. I have a lot against food that is expensive and is served in miniscule portions. A.J. & Sunshine's Food Without Fire in Miami Beach, FL is my best raw experience ever.

7:00 it is. It's interesting that Veg Dining says it's mostly vegan, but every other review I've read (and when I've asked) it says completely vegan.
I can't be there tomorrow. :( We're celebrating my mother's birthday a day early. It's actually on Monday.
Another VB meet-up accomplished. 4 people this time. That's 33% more than last time!
I'm thinking a Native Foods meet-up is going to have to come soon... Preferably Westwood, but I haven't been to Humanitaire next to NF in Costa Mesa. Just not sure if I'm off work or able to get down there with Mrs. epski during their hours...

It was a great evening!
I like Native Foods in Costa Mesa better than the one in Westwood. Better service and more space.
The service in Westwood has gone way up. Tanya revamped the staff up there. Food has improved, too. She must've gotten wind of some the issues that location was having. Costa Mesa is definitely a nicer space.

This is the small shop with sweets and snack. Yummy dine-in snacks, mostly south indian food (my favorite!!):
http://www.suratifarsan.com/
(pronounced soor--thee far-saan.)
And for the one we talked about:
Udupi Palace (Vegetarian and Vegan)
Specializing in South Indian cuisine, this all-vegetarian family restaurant in "Little India" has somewhat limited choices for vegans. Though all the curries have yogurt and many items have cream, vegans can enjoy a large selection of the giant lentil crepes called Dosas, and the tasty rice pancakes called Uttapam. The Vegetable Rice Puri was exceptionally tasty. The deep fried Pakoras were perfect starters, but don't dip them into the cream laced cilantro sauce. Ambience is very simple, prices very reasonable.

This restaurant is the one I mentioned near the 91 fwy:
Woodlands Indian Cuisine (Vegetarian and Vegan)
In an area that features many Indian restaurants, this eatery stands apart with its all-vegetarian menu of South Indian dishes. Try their traditional delicacies like Uppuma made from cream of wheat, or Masala Dosa, the largest crepe you've ever seen, or Iddly patties made from lentils and rice. The extensive menu also includes curries, soups, and vegetable dishes. The budget-conscious diner may want to take advantage of the combination Thali dinners.
Artesia Center

Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday
