I want one here too...
I'm still afraid to eat at whole foods even. Too many questionable things in what they make.
I want a vegan store here!!!!!!! Come to central CA Please.....

I had asked about cooking classes and other people had expressed interest. It looks like Madeline Bistro is having a cooking class next week. It's in Tarzana, so I won't be able to make it.

Cooking Classes
Join us for our inaugural cooking class on Monday, July 31st, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.,
followed by a food tasting. The theme of the class is:
Corn, Tomatoes & Peaches,
featuring a variety of techniques and preparations utilizing these essential summer
ingredients. The price is $75 per person. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up as
soon as possible. Make your reservation by calling us at (818) 758-6971 or online at
info@madeleinebistro.com.

Join our e-mail list today so that you can keep up-to-date on all of the happenings at
Madeleine Bistro this summer and throughout the year. Just e-mail to
subscribe@madeleinebistro.com and we'll add you to the list.

I'm on their Yahoo Group, and get these messages, but maaaan... $75? Not that it wouldn't be worth it, but it's out of my reach. I can only go there on special occasions as it is.

On that same note, Tanya Petrovna is doing a vegan in Vietnam cooking vacation that will cost a pretty penny, but is probably one of those memorable experiences that you could be talking about for the rest of your life.

A new Westside restaurant. Haven't been there yet, just got the bulletin:

New to the Venice beach boardwalk is an amazing ALL VEGAN walk-up window!

Located right across from world gym!

Same menu as the Kung Food drive thru!

Yeah, I thought it was a little pricy for one night as well. But I though some people on VB might roll like that.

Is anyone going to the L.A. Tofu Festival August 12th/13th? I know it's not a vegetarian event, but there'll be a good amount of veg*n food for sale there, information, entertainment, etc.

I wanna go! I wanna go! :hamster:

However, it would only be on Saturday. I can't go on Sunday; it's my father's birthday and there's other stuff planned for that day.

Great! Amy, would you be interested in splitting the cost of a pre-sale package with me? (You can have the cookbook - I don't have room for another cookbook in my house!)

Anyone else out there want to join up for some tofu treats?

Anyway I am totally going to be there, and I think it sounds really neat. Maybe he and I will share one of those pre-package things.

Oh, c'mon. It couldn't possibly look as disgusting as a hot dog eating contest. :spew:

Alrighty, that's four people so far! Who else is going? ? ?

I'd enter that tofu-eating contest if I thought there was any chance I could win - the grand prize is an 11-day tour of Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam!

Oh #!%$@!! I just realized that I can't go to the Tofu Festival on the 12th unless it's in the evening (after 5:30 or so). Is anyone still interested in attending late Saturday, or maybe Sunday? Sorry!!! :(

Amy SF

How late will it run on Saturday. As I posted before, I can't go at all on Sunday; it's my dad's birthday.

The hours on Saturday are 2pm to 10pm, so if folks don't mind making an evening of it, that would work for me!

Which event were you looking at on that calendar? If you decide to go to the one on August 10th in Redondo Beach, I'll definitely join you. It couldn't be much closer to my home! :)

I guess I'll be at the Tofu Festival around 5:00 or 5:30 on Saturday, so anyone else who'll be there can give me a ring after 5pm and I'll meet you somewhere. Please send me a PM for my cellphone number - and I've pre-paid for a 2-admission package, if anyone wants to share the cost with me. (Otherwise, I just plan to eat and drink twice as much.)
