Hey SoCal vegans! I had lunch at (House Foods') Curry House today, and noticed they list the ingredients of their curry sauce on the back of the menu. It mentions that the MILD curry contains NO animal fats, no milk, no butter. Who knew?! I ordered the vegetable curry and rice, and just added "hot oil" from the bottle on the table to add more heat. oishi!

I've been trying to stir interest in going somewhere on Thanksgiving over at VegLA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vegla), but it's been super quiet over there. Typical Angelenos. ;)

Can't decide whether to go to Animal Acres, Native Foods Costa Mesa, or Madeleine Bistro. Need to figure it out before Saturday.

Okay ... so I just got back from San Francisco today (I live in Waco, TX and was visiting to shoot an infomercial and visit my cousins). I absolutely LOVED it! You SF guys rock. I ate dinner at Herbivore and had the Schwarma. . . my mouth was very, very happy.

Seriously thinking about making the move to Cali for school...

I posted this over at VegLA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vegla), but for the Angelenos here that don't belong, Mrs. epski and I have decided to do the Thanksgiving meal at Native Foods (http://www.nativefoods.com/events.html) this year. Would be cool to see some of you there!
Thursday, November 24, Costa Mesa-THANKSGIVING DINNER SERVED! You’ve asked for 10 years and now we want to serve our family their requests! I’m working on the menu now, so final TBA but it will include the Wellington and the spectacular mushroom gravy. We will serve 2pm-8pm. Reserve now $25 dollars per person. The turkeys thank you.

Just wanted to say Hi and that I'm glad to be here. :hi: I was beginning to think I would never find another vegetarian in California. I have no veggie friends and everyone I know just thinks I'm weird not to eat meat.:-/
Anybody in the Sun City/Murrieta/Temecula area?

Hi. I'm from L.A., but I know the area you're from. I went to high school in "Sun" Diego.

Anybody in the Sun City/Murrieta/Temecula area?

I'm in the South Bay (Torrance & Beach Cities) area, but I got my new hybrid from Toyota of Temecula this summer. Now my son is planning to buy a Prius from the same dealer.

Nice to have you here with us, Ruth!

Have you looked at Craig's List?

I am in a pet-friendly building, but I don't think we have anything bigger than a 1-bedroom.

Finding something on the Westside at that price range sounds awfully challenging. Did you look around Westgate between Santa Monica and Wilshire, and those blocks to the East and West of there? I haven't checked rents in that area in years, but I seem to recall it being the only affordable zone between Brentwood and Santa Monica.

You might also try Mar Vista, down near Culver City.

I live in Hollywood/W. Hollywood, and it works for me.

We have 4 cats, though I don't know if our manager would have let us in if we had them when we first moved.

i strongly doubt you'd be able to find anything for $1200 or less. i had hoped to move in june, but i wasn't able to find anything (2 bed w/ dishwasher, pets allowed) for less than $1500 that was any closer to UCLA than palms/mar vista.

Hi! When we (my family and I) were in Davis in June to attend my nephew's graduation from college, he wanted to take us to a Greek restaurant in town that he liked, but the place was closed on the day we were there. (I can't remember the name of it). Turned out OK, though, because he took us instead to a Chinese restaurant called Ding How that has a completely separate vegetarian menu, utilizing mock meats made from soy. I ordered two items that I missed once I went veggie: Ginger "beef" and lemon "chicken", and they were sooo good, I wished I could take home the leftovers. :-/ I did grab a copy of the menu, though, before I left. :D Enjoy!

Hi duck! Sorry, I never remember to check this thread. :(

Have you tried checking at www.happycow.net (http://www.happycow.net)? That's the first place I look before I leave home for a strange place. Good luck, I hope your trip goes well!
