Public transportation in Hemet? I wouldn't have a clue. Have you tried calling the chamber of commerce in Hemet for more information on possibly relocating to the area?

I used to live in Hemet and am familiar with their bus system. I haven't tried calling the chamber of commerce, but I have asked my realtor sister (who lives there with the rest of my family) for help in the search. No luck so far. :(

I would like to create a group of Californian Vegetarian and Vegans, where we can support, help, and visit from time to time.

Would anyone be interested?

Michelle
I'm lazy when it comes to travelling, but yes, let's start by keeping in touch at least :) Good afternoon Michelle!

Re: Cheap fruit

Anyone knows ways to get real cheap fruit in Cali? I mean wholesalers, organizations. Damaged or misshaped fruit, etc.

I eat tons and tons of fruit and it's a tad expensive to buy it in the market, at least I think I could have it way cheaper. I want to start buying fruit by the case, and not by the pound.

Or do I have to go to each and every farm and ask them. This wouldn't be so bad as it would be fun, but I thought I ask here - maybe there is some huge secret fruit lovers' organization in CA that I just don't know about.
Hey Oatmeal! Try Costco?

As for Cali. colleges and Universities I would reccomend against San Jose State. I did my graduate work there and though the program was great the administrative and burecratic aspects suck monkey butt.

Me: Hi I got this bill post marked a week after it was due.
SJSU window teller: Ok, but I have to add a $50 late fee
Me: Why should I pay a late fee when you didn't even mail it till after the bill was due?
SJSU window teller: Maybe it took to long to get to your house?
Me: I live down the friggin block!!!!!!

this is only one example of the fun I has there.
How about I be a little more precise and say it's downright c-r-a-p-p-y? :)

If anyone ever makes it north to Sacramento, I will take them to lunch at my favorite lil place to eat. It is very veggie friendly. Best falafel, and nutburgers. :)
Can I take you up on that one sometime? :)

Hey all-

Just wanted to introduce this new resource I've been working on:

http://www.vegsantabarbara.com

Its a vegetarian and vegan guide to Santa Barbara.
If anyone is in the area, I've got a leaflet version of the guide I'd be happy to mail out to folks for distribution. My email is on the site.

Hey, all you Californians! Even though I'm here in Chicago and won't be able to attend, I wanted to share the links to a couple of upcoming events I've recently been made aware of. Perhaps some of you will be interested in them...

I went to the university there. I really miss the area I can tell you that! Much nicer than the inland empire.

Sometimes I get jelious when I visit my brother there (who now attends the university) :)

Ah well. There is no way my husband and I could afford a house there (or have the jobs we have there for that matter).

Has anybody ever been to The Bayleaf Cafe in Palo Alto? I'm going to be in that area (Atherton, actually) in June, and I'm scouting possible places to eat. I've looked at their website and it looks like a great place.
