View Full Version : California
I wish I lived in CA ;)
Anyway, you might already know about this, but there is a festival coming up November 6 & 7 in San Francisco called Greenfestival. www.greenfestival.com. Sounds similar to the St Paul/Mpls "Living Green Expo", which is awesome. :vebo:

Can anyone give any feedback on a place in OC (Fountain Valley) called Au Lac?

OK. I see a thread for a Cedar Point gathering. Anyone in SoCal up for a Magic Mountain gathering? I got a season pass and have been amazed at how few people I know enjoy roller coasters. I'd love the opportunity to meet my fellow vegetarians.

Hmmm. Looks like we're alone here. No other Cali roller coaster fans?

You'd probably have better luck posting this in the veggie patch. People that aren't going to CP probably don't read this forum.
True, but it did show up in the New Posts search, so here I am. Let me know if you want me to move this over to the California Forum.
I'd go, if someone would drive. Probably would want to hold off until after peak season, though, honestly. Long lines are a big turn-off for me.

I live in SoCal and would love to get together with other VBers. Can we do it somewhere else, tho. I can't stand amusement parks. They're like long commercials that you get trapped in and can't escape. I can never relax under the bombardment of marketing and relentless appeals to purchase impulsively.

If the California Forum is where this thread truly belongs, then yes, would you please move it? Sorry to have posted incorrectly. I'm still figuring it all out.
Well, I'll be driving, but I won't be coming through your neck of the woods since the route from Ojai is pretty much the 126 all the way. Hopefully something will work out. But I agree to waiting for peak season to pass. When is peak season? Does everyone work weekdays, or will we need to shoot for a Sat/Sun?

There is another thread running somewhere with plans for a veggie feast in the LA area around Memorial Day (or whichever one that is that is coming up next. No offense intended to anyone on my lack of clarity on the name of the holiday. I have a great mind for concepts, but I lose name, numbers and dates.) I completely understand your take on the sheer capitalism of amusement parks. Alas, I am a rollercoaster nut, have a season pass (bday present), and no money to opt elsewhere, so I'm going one way or the other. But I'd rather go with a chance to meet some of you out there.

Hey my LA buddies :) I am arriving in LA for the first time ever August 15th. I am going to school at both USC and UCLA. I know thats weird but I won the jerry goldsmith scholarship at UCLA after I had already been accepted at USC so to take advantage of this I am going to take a few classes at UCLA extension. So I hope to see some of you around. :)

It's funny. My boyfriend is this skateboarding gaping, open, bleeding wound kind of guy, adrenaline rush, throwing himself through the air on nothing but a piece of wood on wheels - but he feels the same way about roller coasters.
Ah, as for good places to get veggie food for guests... I'd say you're safe getting a veggie platter and fruit platter from ANY market (they all have them in their produce section where the refrigerated stuff is)... and Whole Foods has all kinds of vegan cakes and desserts ~ you don't even have to tell anyone they're vegan, they're so yummy, they won't even question it. Funny how people are scared of vegetables... they should be REALLY scared of what they're choosing to eat instead... hmmmm...
Congrats, magates! My wife goes to USC, and I graduated as a Bruin. It works, oddly.
Looking forward to hearing some of your work sometime.
Hmm UCLA vs USC... must make for some interesting dinner conversation. :) But it's perfect that you live in Hllyd, as it's central to both schools... any vegan restaurants in Westwood?

So, does anyone out there know anything about the buses that go right into Magic Mountain? I've been looking it up, and as far as I can figure the 3 and the 7, as well as some weird station transit thing 501, go right into Magic Mountain. But what I can't tell is if there's a Park 'n' Ride where I could catch one of these buses, or somewhere close to the park and a stop that I could safely leave my car. I can't afford the $8 parking fee, so I'm looking for alternatives.
And to those with babies who ride buses - how does that work? I don't suppose they have child safety seats in buses these days? It's been 10 years since I rode a bus, so I'm out of touch there. Do people just carry their babies in their laps?
People just carry the babies on their laps, mostly, yes. Magic Mountain is not all that fun for babies, IMHO (FWIW).
