That's what Californians are known for. ;)
On the way out of town SLO, up route one PCH is a healthy food store that serves vegan food as well, don't remember the name.

Greetings everyone, I'll try and revisit this posting section from now on since I am a resident of CA, San Jose, it's good to be back home. My name is Daria or 'Dasha' I lived in San Jose for about 2 years a year and a half ago. Just moved from back, spent a day in L.A. was sorta planning on moving there but it didn't work out.
Anyway, I'm femme vegan AR activist with the tendency of getting things rolling, jump started. Is there anyone in the area who could show me around a lil? Some veg joints perhaps and maybe just relax and get to know each other better. I know plenty of veg people, but no vegans locally. I'm also looking for people who would be interested in doing some animal rights/alternative diet outreach, now that I"ve relocated I need to form another group. Hope to hear from someone..

What happened with the proposed LA move? Where'd you come from just before?
I don't know anything about San Jose, unfortunately.
Welcome aboard Daria,
I'm in the south behind the Orange Curtain.
About as far north i get is Cambria and Big Sur for an extended weekend, then jump to the bay area only by Southwest. Visit the eastern Sierra when it's cooler in my snail on wheels.

Hey Dasha!!
I'm not very far from you, in San Mateo! :)
I don't know much about SJ either, though last year I was at the Bay Area Veg Fair that takes place there every year. This year I missed it, dang.
Heh, went to the Montana section but I got lonely seeing as how it's EMPTY...hmmm...went to college in California, can I hang here then? Pretty please? :naughty:

I live in Northern Orange County (Los Alamitos). It's pretty nice up here, though I may be moving uncomfortably close to Riverside (dad's house) after I graduate, unless I find a roomate.
As far as restaurants go I only really know of two places :(
The one near me is called Alisan's it's an organic and vegetarian place on Bolsa Chica and Heil in Huntington Beach. They make mostly Asian/Chinese food with the best fake meat I've ever had.
Another good one is Pasta Espresso in Pacific Beach (near San Diego). It's very vegan friendly and has some of the best and cheapest pasta dishes on earth.
Hi Harry!
I live right on the other side of Los Alamitos. :) I haven't been to the restaurant you mentioned in H.B., though -- is it the Happy Veggie or another one?
Anyone know of any vegan friendly restaurants in the Stockton/Sacramento area? I'll be visiting family in that area in a week and don't want to go hungry.... :p Thanks.

I live in Sacramento, if you want a list of places I go to, let me know. I am not sure about some being vegan, but I do have a list of vegetarian friendly. Just email me, and I will come up with my list.

Try Au Lac on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley across from Miles Square Park. It is vegan. It is just a little farther east than Alisans on the same road.

I would be, but I'd be travelling north to get there while you'd be travelling south (I think, either way Sacremento is drastically north of where I live).
Ah, well.
icicle --
hope your show goes well! I'm off for Europe in a few days and I'm broke, but I'd like to see something of yours someday... keep posting about them! :)
