Yesterday, Sunday, I had half a bagel, 3 pieces of pizza, 3 oatmeal cookies and an ice cream cone. I feel afwul today! Hands swollen, mental fatigue, body aches, congestion! UGH!
My diet has been pretty clean the past 8 months with a once a week binge like the above, so I feel the effects pretty hard! Eventually I will let go of the once a week thing but until then does anyone have sugestions how to recover?

drink lots of warm water with a squeeze of lemon in it, to kick start your system and help it remove the toxins.
i have food intollerances that can make me feel pretty rough like that, (that much wheat and yeast and dairy and sugar in a day would wipe me right out, lol) and i find that if i have an alka seltzer straight after accidently eating/drinking something that i know makes me suffer, it helps nutralise it quite a bit, and i feel somewhat better for it.
i expect your body is feeling pretty mangled, so i wouldn't expect too much from it for today, treat it nicely while it recovers, lol - poor body!
don't know if thats any help.... although here's hoping you won't have a next time of feeling like this!

i find that if i have an alka seltzer straight after accidently eating/drinking something that i know makes me suffer, it helps nutralise it quite a bit, and i feel somewhat better for it.
i don't know if this is obvious, but totally curious as to what an alka seltzer would do in this situation?

The way you are feeling is due to the fact that you replaced your wholesome food with refined sugar or starches. There is no shall we say hangover treatment for that, not even Alka - Seltzer. What you did was cause your pancreas to release a large amount of insulin. Brought on by the bagel, pizza, cookie, and ice cream frenzy.
Most people do not think about the amount of sugar the average person gets in his or her daily diet. It cause your immune system to operate well below it optimun levels.
When refined sugar is constantly in the diet, the pancreas must constantly produce insulin. When sugar is continually overused, the pancreas eventually wears out and is no longer able to clear sugar from the blood, and diabetes is often the result.
White, refined sugar is also bleached with Chlorine Bleach, a substance that many people are sensitive to. Chlorine, when it combines with organic compounds, converts to Dioxin, a lethal chemical. No one should ever consume any substance that have been exposed to chlorine or chlorine bleach.
Some of the side effects of white sugar:
Increases chronic fatigue
Can trigger binge eating in those with bulima
Increases anxiety and irritability
Can increase or intensify symptoms of anxiety and panic in susceptible woman or men.
Can make it difficult to lose weight because of constantly high insulin levels, which causes the body to store excess carbs as fat.
These are only a few of the systoms the list goes on.
Just a little information on the Dark Side of white refined sugar.
