yes-I would like to know where Golden Temple is also.
And I work off 280 in Westover--I have to travel through Inverness to get there. Where is the Thai place and what is it's name? I like Thai occasionally.

I don't live that far from Birmingham, but I'm not sure where Golden Temple is. Sounds familier, though, I think I've just been to another resturant named that....

maybe we all need to get together someday for lunch. the place i went to on 280 had a really good tofue thing with peanut sauce.
What place on 280? I haven't eaten at Golden Temple yet but I want to! It's a health food store in 5 Points in downtown Birmingham, there is a whole/natural food/vegetarian/vegan cafe attached. The omnis I know that go there like it, I'm not sure if they serve meat but I don't think so.
I think the southern VBers need to get together! We have to stick together, there aren't enough of us not to! LOL

notyet, i honestly cant remember the name of it. if you head south on 59 and get off on 280 and turn left (not towards the cheesecake factory), there is a place a few miles down on the right. it's near an ABC store. i can tell you it's right before hugh daniel road, because i have a doctor in that area. : )

Hi! I am kind of new to the boards and just found this thread. I am in Madison and moved here from NY 4 years ago. I have not met even 1 person who is a vegetarian or vegan. Nor is my family, although my hubby is slowly coming around. I was sad to see that Stanlio's isn't so great after all.(another thread) I loved the veggie reuban they sold! It's very hard to eat out now that I don't eat dairy or cheese. Any good vegan restaurants around here?

The name of the Thai restuarant is "Thai Emperial". It looks great from the outside. I was wondering about prices.
As for Vegan resturants=I couldnt tell you. The Southern thang with barbeque and steak houses makes vegetarian and vegan eating out sometimes difficult. You can most of the time go to a restuarant and get vegetarian and vegan options. I have been reading a thread about The Cheescake Factory being good. And I plan to check out the Thai resturant we been talking about. After I find out how much I should expect to spend.

rince, whenever we have the alabama vegan party, we'll go to the cheesecake factory. my guess (correct me if im wrong) is that all of the people on the alabama board are women, so your mom might be ok with it.

Er...Neither. Severel generations born and raised Alabamian. Have a few Irish uncles, and a great-great-great-great grandmother who was a cherokee. I'm sure there's more, havn't really looked into it.
Correction: Great, great, severel great uncles. Nothing recent.

I've yet to meet any vegan/vegetarians since moving here.. Come to think of it I haven't ever met any other vegetarians or vegans anywhere in the south. Good to know they are out there.

Heh, we don't even have vending machines.=P We do, however, have a pathetic, wimpy excuse for a salad bar. I bring two slices of bread to lunch and make a sandwich with some onions, lettuce, mustard/mayo, and sometimes others veggies, with they have them that day. I can sometimes get a bag of chips, and the veggies that go with the meat can go with the salad and you don't have to pay extra.
