I need cheesecloth for a dish I'm preparing for a friend, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. None at Whole Foods, Walgreens (it's a drugstore), or the reg. grocery store. Anyone want to make my day and let me know where you've found it? You'll be my hero.

I usually see it hanging on those things they have in the middle of isles, with hooks that hang down. It comes in a flat package about 3"x10". I find it difficult to find because it's never in one usual place. Did you ask anyone at the stores?

Besides Whole Foods (which sells unbleached cotton cheesecloth), all of the supermarkets and all of the hardware stores around here sell cheesecloth. In the supermarket, look near the cookware aisle, and in the hardware store it may be near the cookware, and/or in the paint section (but make sure it's labeled for food usage of course).

So far I've only seen it in an Indian grocery store.

Fabric shops, farmers supply shops, hobby shops, fabric departments in places like walmart. Call ahead and ask.
