So I have been taking steps to becomming vegan ever since I became vegetarian ( which was only a week ago ) so I went out shopping today because I gave away all of my animal tested products and found tons of Toms of Maine products at Eckerd. I was soooo shocked. I even hugged the store lady that helped me find them. So I got deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, lipbalm, etc. They had soooo many products that were not tested on products it made it sooo easy for me. I dont even have to look anything up to see if they test because everything I needed said Not tested on animals all over it. Whoever said that these companies are proud was soooo right because most of them had huge symbols and bright lettering to attract you to the fact that they dont test. I kind of felt like God was telling me I was doing the right thing. I know I have said that before but so many things have been happening to make me think that, I cant help but say it all the time. I went to Applebees last night ( dragged by my husband ) and I thought I wouldnt be able to find anything. Guess what, my waitor was a vegetarian and he gave me such a large menu to choose from it was crazy. So I had an awesome veggie burger with almond rice ( another thank you moment ). I just feel soooo good right now. I have been sick for sooo long and depressed and such and its like a complete 360. Sorry to gloat I just have had a pretty rough life and have been waiting a long time to have a good one. I finally feel comfortable and a good life is in site. THANK YOUUUUU for all of the support it has really helped. Ok ill stop now...sorry :worried:

I see you are from NJ. Which Applebees did you go to, if you don't mind. My daughter went there and said there was NOTHING she could eat!
Anyhow, congrats on going veg! It really does make you feel good, physically AND spiritually.

Being veg*n (usually) isn't hard at all once you get into the groove of things.
Next go to a health food store. Veggie heaven on earth.

Hey, Kmkms24... Glad to hear the search is going so well. I'm trying to do the same also. I just wanted to mention though, from my experience, that a lot of companies try to trick you (you'll find that in major grocery stores quite often). So many stores now know that more and more people don't want products tested on animals - but there's a fine line here they like to straddle.
Companies can put on their products "This product not tested on animals" or "Animal Friendly," but that can simply mean that that specific batch of lipstick or nail polish or whatever was not tested on an animal. It does not mean, unfortunately, that their products weren't tested on animals to get that product.
To find vegan-friendly companies all you have to do is look them up on the internet. Chances are you found good products, but I just thought I'd give you a heads up about it. "Healthy" foods and "environmentally friendly" products are everywhere today alongside "animal friendly" products, but unfortunately too many companies only say this is true when it is in fact not. Good luck to you, and good job so far! :)

I went to the local health food store and found out that many companies do just what you said. They say that they are cruelty free but only for the final product, not all ingredients. she introduced me to some products that say " (so and so company ) does not test on animals" so I know that they dont test on any product, any ingredient, etc. Or they say, no testing was done in the making of this product. She showed me the suttle differences between them. I got some great 100 % Pure Cocoa butter for lotion, and great smelling soaps. Im so excited to use them. They were really expensive and my husband wasnt too happy but I told him that the money meant nothing compared to the impact it makes and the health benefits. Soooo excited....:)
