Alot of Vegans feel it is cruel to utilize an animal or creature for your own benefit or for food.It is basically slave labour, as they dont get to keep thier honey.I am sure someone can post up the stats on bee-deaths, stress ect.
I am ok either way with honey, but I dont really eat it.Sugar does the trick.
I find the products over-priced and I just try not to buy any products with any relation to animals if I can avoid it.ie:lanolin, animal testing, honey, fur, wool....

My sister n law used to sell burts in her store so I used few products prior to being vegan.
None of them wowed me.
Better stuff out there.

i have a general aversion to beeswax- i know its not really this, but in my head, its like 'bees earwax' and i just cannot rub it on my lips, or anywhere else, without feeling a bit weird and very uncomfortable.
also, i think that if i was a bee, i'd be a bit peeved if people kept waving smoke at me, making me drowsy, then stealing all my stuff- wax, honey, etc.
I knew someone who kept bees when i was a kid- they have to do disease tests and health checks on the colony, which for this guy at least, involved catching a few bees, flash freezing them with liquid notrogen, and then putting them in the freezer at his house. i assume they then went to a lab somewhere. if i was a bee i'd definately not wish to be frozen- even though they reanimate apon defrosting, and i'd definately not wish to be chopped up, or poked with a swab, or tested for my healthiness in any other way which they might use.

I used to use their famous lip balm about 6-7 years ago. It started out okay but eventually started to irritate my lips. I'm not sure if it was the peppermint or lanolin but it made my lips red and swollen. To this day, I won't use anything minty on my lips.
The rest of the products didn't and still don't hold any appeal to me. Tomato toners and whatever odd garden-inspired skincare they have.
The Bay Rum cologne smelled nice but reactions to it are kind of like reactions to patchouli...people either really like it or really hate it. No middle of the road responses there...lol. :)

I like that their products are natural and not animal tested. I use their almond hand lotion and another lip balm.

they also have a bug spray, that is all natural, that an article in national geographic said it really works, they tested it alongside some ones with deet, and the burts worked better, and it obviously has no deet or chemicals in it.
i am going to try it, i have never used a burts bee product but i will try the bug spray.
i tried the kiss my face brand "fly swotter" or some name like that, but the kids still had a million bug bites, it didnt work

Oh I have the bug spray, however, on the box it says "May discolor clothing" so I don't really use it.

Burt's Bees obviously employs bee products, but I use it because it is one of the extremely few natural brands available in my small town that does not contain such atrocious things as petrochemicals and dead animals.
People can say I'm a bad vegan, but you are doing a h*ll of a lot more to help aniamls by avoiding petrochemical/synthetic bodycare products than by avoiding beeswax/honey products.
I won't use their products with milk in them though.
Many of their products are bee-& other animal-free btw, & none is tested on animals.

I don't avoid bee derived products, so that doesn't stop me from using them. However, I just don't like many of their products. I got a sampler kit last Yule and I only liked a couple of things in it-- the lemon butter cuticle cream, and the garden tomato facial toner-- they both smell GREAT! I gave the rest away.
PS: But I didn't try the shampoo bar that came with it, and I'm starting to regret that. Anyone have any opinions on that?

The shampoo bar was a bit rough on my hair but mine is baby fine so almost everything is rough on it.
I LOVE the tinted lip balms and the green lettuce face bar and toner.
The lemon cream is to die for and the mint foot care products are wonderful.

I like the products, but the products are too expensive for regular use.
Good places for us non rich, middle classers to shop are the clearance rack at TJ max, thrift store which sometimes has unopened costmetics, any off name brands at the grocery store and brooks drugs.
