PLEASE CROSS POST

Noah’s Wish (http://www.noahswish.org/) offers Volunteer In-Field Training to help animals in disasters.

This needed service, however, is tarnished by the fact that they not only serve animal food to volunteers at their Saturday night “fun dinner” (suggesting that vegans bring their own food) but their list of suggested foods that volunteers bring for other meals contains many foods of animal origin.

See http://www.noahswish.org/Volunteer%20Training.htm for their “Food and Water Needs During Training.” They urge volunteers to bring foods that are “quick, easy, and nutritional,” but ethical is not considered.

They state:
**

“Noah's Wish realizes that not everyone who attends one of our trainings is a vegetarian or vegan. For this reason our suggested list of food items encompass all food choices. Items to consider for meals include: bagels and cream cheese, breakfast bars, canned chicken, carrot or celery sticks, cheese, cold pasta salad, crackers, dried fruit, salami, fresh fruit or fruit cups, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, nuts, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, muffins, potato chips, protein bars, tofu, trail mix, tuna, yogurt, etc.

Noah's Wish will provide a fun dinner on Saturday night. There will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Vegans will probably want to bring their own food for this meal too. Coffee and tea will be provided daily as well as a snack on Saturday.”

PLEASE SEND POLITE E-MAILS TO NOAH’S WISH. They perform a unique service in training volunteers to save animals in times of disaster. Please let them know that every day is a disaster for farmed animals and that any training that aims to save animal lives and eliminate animal suffering must not add to the death and suffering. While it is true, as they state, that not everyone who attends their training is vegetarian or vegan, Noah’s Wish, themselves should practice and promote veganism. This would ensure that the training, itself, not encompass cruelty, and would allow Noah’s Wish to set an example in cruelty-free living for attendees.
