This looks like a great movie. :nana: :bobo:

From director Davis Guggenheim comes the Sundance Film Festival hit, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, which offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change.

Here you can pledge to see it. 5% of the profits go to The Alliance For Climate Protection.

I've seen about a gazillion previews for this, and it looks like a good film, but I think the subtitle is "preaching to the choir". :)

Unfortunately, Jen, that's probably true, but I'm seeing this film anyway.

I saw this linked to from the preview on YouTube and thought it was too hilarious. No disrespect intended and I will see that movie.

I saw a trailer for this that came on before Notorious Bettie Page in the theater a few weeks ago. I am soooooo pumped about it! I know I'm the choir, but I love seeing movies that are about things I'm passionate about. It gives me a motivation boost. Plus, it helps me remember facts when they are presented creatively to me rather than just read from a book.

I can't wait for An Inconvenient Truth to come out. I'm going to take everyone I know to see it. I actually teared up just watching the preview.

It looks good, I will probably see it when it comes on DVD. It's unfortunate that most people won't listen to the message until it's too late. :-/

A rather lengthy discussion of Gore and the film in today's Los Angeles Times: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-et-goldstein23may23,1,1106322.column

Plus, here's what President Bush had to say about seeing the film:

President Doubts He'll See Gore Film
By James Gerstenzang, Times Staff Writer
May 23, 2006

WASHINGTON — President Bush had a two-word response when he was asked Monday whether he would see Al Gore's documentary on global warming.

"Doubt it," the president said during an appearance before the National Restaurant Assn. in Chicago

Because for Bush, of course, global warming is An Inconvenient Truth.

So I saw this movie on opening weekend. It was decent. Al Gore's head looked so big on the screen and it was up there almost the entire movie. The entire movie is basically a lecture that Al Gore gives in front of a group of people that is interrupted by various other scenes of Al Gore. There were a decent amount of people in the theater and the movie gave a lot of good facts and some shocking CG animations about sea level rising. My only problems were that he made no mention of eating meat and it's relation to the environment and that the theater was so frickin' cold I was almost rooting for Global Warming

But I highly recommend seeing this movie. Take anyone and everyone you know.

I can't wait to see this.... we're having a whole shin-dig hoot-a-nanny surrounding it one weekend. Environmental fair thing with food and demonstrators.
Looks to be good!

Funny that he happened to be appearing for the National Restaurant Association.

Hmm... I think the last thing I want to go to the movies for is to hear a vice president lecturing behind a lectern for 2 hours. It sounds uterly boring. C-SPAN the movie.

I can't wait! Way to go Mr. Gore! Nontheless, I doubt many will take it seriously, oh well. Let mother earth teach them a lesson!

It was pretty good - the information was very sound, but it was broken up quite a bit by unnecessary info about Al Gore's family and life. Things that just weren't pertinent, and in some ways, detracted from the seriousness of the movie. A lot more information could have been included, but perhaps that was the point - give people just enough info to be informed, and worried, and stop before info overload. For the environmentally concerned of us, there will be little to no new information in this film - but it is good to see the word getting out.

Ditto what bstutzma said. It wasn't boring at all. It certainly wasn't CSPAN the movie. It didn't really contain any new information for me, but that was comletely expected. Plus, I got to look up Al Gore's nose. That's not something that happens everyday.

hopefully what it will do is make a few more people view the problem more seriously and make them skeptical of the "science" paid for by EXXON that attempts to obfuscate the issue and confuse people. maybe it will help people decide that it is an important consideration when voting for representatives and President too.

I saw it, and was very disappointed that the environmental impact of factory farms and food choices was not addressed. At all.
