Can anyone tell me what the recommended dosage for vitamins/minerals are for vegetarians? How much approximately are you supposed to get of stuff like iron, magnesium, calcium, etc.?
My mom wants me to look this up and I can't really find anything on it. Does anyone know?

Zinc: w: 8mg/day, m: 11 mg/day

all of these are minimums. you can read the books "becoming vegan" or "becoming vegetarian" for more info on these vitamins and minerals, i hope this helps :)

Now that you have the vitamins and minerals list you may find these links helpful:

Here's a link that shows vegan sources of key nutrients:

and here's the vegan food pyramid taken from Becoming Vegan:

This page (http://www.nutritiondata.com/calories-burned.html) will help you also with amounts. Just enter your info, click the "calculate" button and it will tell you what you need to know (scroll down a bit for the nutrients and their amounts required).

Oh, and here's a handy thing - if you scroll down to the nutrients section and click any one of the nutrients listed, you get search results for the foods containing that particular nutrient. :)

FWIW, I take one pill a day: rotating through a general multi, calcium, and vitamin B-12. I've been vegan for 10 years, and have been following this regime for over 5 years. So far it hasn't killed me  I enjoy stunningly good health (no sick days in over 20 years, and nowadays I don't even get colds like I used to). I shouldn't brag - the gods will have their revenge on the proud... :sealed:
