Adopt a homeless animal this Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a time for reflection upon the compassionate and powerful women who have had such a great effect upon our lives. Teaching, nurturing and loving are all duties they so readily accept -- all to better our existence. For many of us, we are still able to visit with, love and thank these amazing women for all they do. For others, this simple act is impossible.
Across the United States, thousands of babies are torn viciously from their mothers -- only to be sentenced to death. In the veal industry, babies are taken from their mothers within only days of birth. These young creatures will never see their mother again -- only the confines of their cell, hormone-saturated feed and the vision of others' suffering. They will never know their mother's touch, gentle mooing, or green pastures. These mothers are powerless -- forced to watch the cruel torture and slaughter of their offspring.
This Mother's Day, take a moment to not only thank your mother for her devotion to you, but also to respect those mothers who do not have a voice. Consider adopting one of the millions of homeless animals. For more information, contact FOCAS at http://www.focas-sandiego.org or http://www.hsus.org.
