Every Creature Counts, a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization, is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Animal Welfare Coordinator. This is full time position requiring schedule flexibility as our organization operates seven days per week.
The Animal Welfare Coordinator is responsible for animal care, transportation, and management of our Adoption Centers. The Coordinator also interfaces with the public, various shelters and our spay and neuter clinic. Regular duties include the following and may be expanded as needed:
• Schedule and select animals for transportation from our clinic in Brighton to PetsMart Adoption Centers
• Transport dogs and cats to and from Adoption Centers
• Ensure health of every animal in Adoption Centers
• Clean and prepare Adoption Centers for transported animals
• Maintain all paperwork associated with animals in Adoption Centers
• Schedule transfer of animals from other shelters
• Select and schedule owner surrendered animals
• Ensure that all paperwork associated with animals being transferred from organizations or individuals is received.
• Interface with spay and neuter clinic to ensure animals are ready for transport and adoption
• Select shelter animals to prepare for adoption
• Administer vaccines and medication as directed to prepare animals for adoption
• Manage overall animal population to facilitate transfer into Adoption Centers
• Review dog and cat adoption applications
• Interface with PetsMart employees and managers, shelter workers, volunteers and the public
• Manage necessary supplies for animal care
• Drive anywhere in the Denver metro and surrounding areas
• Foster animals occasionally
• Animal Rights Experience or volunteer experience is strongly preferred
• Previous volunteer experience with an animal agency highly preferred
The Animal Welfare Coordinator position requires a high level of attention to detail and multitasking ability. Qualified candidates will possess superior verbal and written communication skills and feel confident in their ability to communicate with various individuals in person, on the phone and via email. Knowledge of basic computer applications is required. Ability to handle conflict, plan and manage time effectively, and be flexible is also a must. Working knowledge of animal health and behavior is also required, as well as a commitment to serving homeless animals with compassion and dedication. Please note******** Must be a strong advocate for spaying and neutering!!! Must be a strong advocate against declawing of cats. Vegetarians and vegans encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have previous animal rights experience and be passionate about the animal’s welfare.
